Soarin' has always been a lover and critic of pies. Unfortunately, he doesn't quite know how to bake himself. With the help of one of the world's best bakers, he's going to try his hand at learning something new. Just a simple slice of life fic.
Part of a sort of writing challenge that my friend KillerSteel and I are doing. We each had an hour and forty minutes to write about a given prompt and genre. The prompt this time for me was: Soarin' tries to make the perfect pie, possibly seeking help along the way from one of Equestria's most legendary bakers, someone who just happens to be Pinkie's boss.

I'm liking this story. A very few grammatical errors spattered about the place, but by and by a well writ, entertaining little story. I am particularily fond of the little titbits of descriptive writing and imagery used.

This was a good story and I like pie, so I'm up-voting this. Soarin' wanted to make a pie and he learned to make a pie. The End.
If I have anything to critique it would be the blandness of the story as nothing really funny or exciting happened within the 3,000 plus words.
Lovely work! I myself wouldn't call Mrs Cake elderly but that's the only quibble I had. This was lovely and I really love the idea that Soaring is a baker in progress.

i just realized, you don't have Applejack tagged as a story character. i know her part was small, but come on, she, soarin and mrs cake are the only characters in the story, so why leave our favorite farmmare out?
