I like where this is going. First chapter's a bit short for my liking, but it should be fine if you keep a decent update schedule.
2647728 I usually try not to fuss over chapter length. Personally, I also find particularly long chapters to be off-putting. My average per-chapter length is about 1650 words. I do this so I can focus on story quality rather than on forcing the chapters to be long. It's just a silly little style quirk ^^

Hm, good work so far. Though each paragraph could use an extra space between each other so that it doesn't have the infamous "wall of text" feel.

And here I was sure I knew where you were going. So the story is deeper than a simple werepony (actually it would be 'hrɔswulf' in the old tongue) story, but you've humanized...er...ponified(?) the 'monsters'... I am watching now with rapt interest.

I'm pretty sure none of the readers are even remotely surprised by this revelation. For being apparently such a huge deal, you didn't do a very good job of hiding it.

Early on in the writing process I decided that there would be no point in trying to hide the fact that the only OC in the whole story was... well, spoilers aside. That alone makes it obvious.
I, too, am a fan of Diamond Dogs, and am so very happy to see that other folks are giving them some love. Some respectful love even. It takes some pressure off of me so I don't have to write so much on them.
