Celestia has often looked to the furthest edges of her kingdom when watching for dangers. Sometimes, she may even journey there, just to make sure things are on the up and up. Today, she goes to, of all places, the former village of Starlight Glimmer. But it is not the mare herself she has come to see, but the village's newest resident, who is not as unfamiliar to her as might first appear.

Having accepted Twilight's offer of apprenticeship in the magic of friendship, Starlight Glimmer returns to the community she founded long ago, in her first attempt to make amends.

The former equalized ponies struggle to reconstruct their town after Starlight Glimmer's defeat, and Double Diamond struggles to reconstruct his own identity after being freed from Starlight's equalization brainwashing.

Contains some Season 5 spoilers; do not read if you haven't seen.

The recent reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Equestria and Yakyakistan has brought into circulation a number of stories concerning a fabled land of sedge grasses in the far northern mountains where the winds seem to speak in sibilant whispers. One pony sets out to learn the truth behind these stories.

Starlight spends a day in her old town, and her new friends plan a prank to break the ice. What better than something to laugh about to bring everyone closer together! Some pranks are funny, gentle, and become fond memories one day.

This is not one of those pranks.

Double Diamond has always been forced to hide his true nature. Behind the affable mask he wears lies a stallion colder than ice and crueler than steel, only just in control of his darker impulses. That's what makes living among the changelings, who can sense all of his emotions - or lack thereof - such a delicious challenge.

How did the festival in Starlight's village get its name? Perhaps a certain pony wandered into town one day, a pony who knows firsthoof about making a huge mistake, and what's needed for everypony to get over it...

This story is a sequel to Glimmer in the Snow

Post-S6. Starlight Glimmer returns to Our Town once again. Starlight intends to stay for a few weeks this time, continuing to atone for her megalomania as the former leader of Our Town.

However, Starlight knows there is one pony above all else she owes an apology to: the stallion she founded Our Town with, Double Diamond.
