For Derpy Hooves, a young, visually impaired pegasus who can't seem to find her calling, life is extremely tough. Not only because of the terrible memories that haunt her, but also the fact that she's alone in life.

It's tough being an orphan.

Caramel Apple is having an alright day. Sure, he didn't have the best breakfast ever, but he did meet a mare, and build a tent with her at that. Well, a newspaper-roofed tent.

That's not important. What is important is that they make casual conversation. Then, he goes on his way home to be greeted by the unexpected.

Well, the rest of this day is going to go poorly.

Shrek wakes up one day, and goes out to his outhouse to do his daily reading. When he comes out, a whole load of technicolour creatures are waiting outside.

When Berry Punch feels as though she's lost it all she does what many would also do; go to a bar and let your sorrow be consumed by alcohol. On one night in particular however, a storm causes her to fall into serious jeopardy. With nothing more to save her a miracle seems to happen, a stallion comes out from the woodwork to take her home.

Sound Ray is a musician and ex-royal guard of many talents and a very unusual stature. When he decides to go to Ponyville to settle down he is unable to find a place to spend the night and as such chooses to spend the night having drinks and playing the piano in a local bar. Too bad he didn't know how his luck was about to change for the better so quickly.

Set Before the Luna's return by a decent amount. You will find out why in some of the later chapters.

His chosen people, the Felis, were returned to their rightful place as peacekeepers of the realm. 1000 years have passed since. The blighted, cursed ponies, the bringers of calamity, continue to live with their heads hung low, harnessed and blinkered, in service of the greater good. But a strange new affliction spreads amongst them. Mysterious markings appear on their flanks. Most call it a curse, the sign of the twin devils of Nightmare Moon and Celestia. But a few embrace it as a gift. They call themselves the 'Cutie Mark Crusaders', lead by the seemingly immortal hero, Mare-Do-Well.

This is the story of one Cutie Mark Crusader, and how her end became the beginning of many.
