Episode Review
Oh boy, here we go. The very first appearance of the (in)famously popular Trixie, a mare who seems to provoke both limitless adoration and revulsion in viewers. Where does The Slick and Powerful Bootsy stand? Bootsy likes her a little more everytime he thinks about her, but she's seriously obnoxious, especially how she refers to herself in the third person. Bootsy forgot about just how annoying her voice was before rewatching this episode.
The next story of My Little Background Pony is here, fillies and gentlecolts! Presenting an new take on a... well-known classic (I certainly can't call it beloved)...
Enjoy.
I've looked into a lot of fanfic and art 'verses over the years, but a very well-known 'verse has long evaded me. I speak, of course, of RainbowDoubleDash's vaunted Lunaverse. Which means, yes indeedy, it's time to crack that nut by checking out the very first story, Boast Busted! Let's see what this AU has to offer, shall we?
Yep, got me that coveted spot on the shelf. In fact I made the RCL last week, but I guess more people pay attention here than there (though I did get some hits on the story, which was nice). I've no idea of the etiquette involved here, but what they hey? I'm in!
So!
Any questions?
Here it is, the great and powerful next chapter of Chrysalis: Saviour of Time! Boasts 'n' Bears! Actual discussion with spoilers and such after the page break.
Like the title said, small update.
I've hit the point where I need to watch Boast Busters again. I may or may not alter the magic show a bit to make the scene fit into the story, but I'll wait to watch the episode before making that decision. I don't want to deviate from Trixie's show too much, but Twilight and her unwillingness to appear boastful was a bit central to the episode. That's obviously going to be different.
Again, I'll figure out what to do after I watch the episode.
My first real encounter with My Little Pony was when my little sisters started buying the toys. Compared to the Polly Pockets, those horses weren't little at all. But I quickly forgot about them as the years went by. Before I came to this website, my internet stomping grounds was centered around Gameinformer.com, the blogging community there specifically. I wrote topical
Sorry for the slight delay; I didn't have the time to prepare this batch ahead of time.
Seeing this episode again brought a lot of interesting information to light. For example, when Applejack was showing her lasso skills, where exactly was that apple tree? Also, Rarity speaks in the third pony immediately before the famous "It. Is. On." I'm not sure if she was subtly mocking Trixie, or if that's just a unicorn thing.
Howdy howd~
Derply here, stopping by to give a quick status update on the next chapter of The Poisoned Barb's Tale.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreetings everypony, and welcome back to Deconstruction is Magic, my Retrospective/Review/Analysis of every My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode ever! Today's analysis may be shorter, as Boast Busters doesn't involve a ton of narrative depth. But without wasting any more time, let's get on with the analysis! I am the Mage of Mind, reminding you, as always, that even a cheeseburger can be deconstructed to its source.
"Listen up, dweeb, it's not my fault they never brought me back after Season 5. That doesn't make me any less important then the other originally-one-time character from these pair of episodes! You got that, you pink puffball?"
