This is a little progress report to help put the final version of Moondust into a better perspective.
Writing Moondust 2.0 has been a bit of a learning experience, to put it lightly. It's my first "completed" story, and it shows. What I thought would be a simple case of streamlining the plot of events and rewriting the last few chapters opened up a can of worms I hadn't been expecting. I'm now realising just how much I'm still missing as a writer when it comes to the absolute basics, stuff that I wouldn't have learned by only writing halfway through a story and then getting bored or
So after three years of serving fried chicken I left my job last month. No worries, it’s all good.
Now that I have some free time on my hands, I have the chance to write more, art more, and get my life back into balance. Still no promises when it comes to speed and dates for chapters and things, but my creative juices are flowing a lot more smoothly now, which is good.
Hey guys, just a heads up on Moondust.
Chapter 7 will be the final chapter of the story, and then there'll be a short epilogue afterwards. Chapter 7 is looking to be the biggest chapter by far, possibly twice the length of the average for this one, so it'll probably be a couple of weeks before it's ready to go.
The first new chapter is up! I'll probably post the next one on Tuesday and the next a little after that, etc.
I was going to make an updated cover image for the story, but it was taking way too long for too little of an upgrade, and I didn't want to risk stepping past the halfway mark of September before starting to post the new version. Don't want to keep people waiting any longer than they already have.
Feels good to finally have a new story out!
Currently starting chapter six. Chapters two - four have all been checked over for spelling and stuff, so I'll post chapter two as soon as I finish the cover image, which should be in a couple of days at most.
Sorry that it's been so long. Here's an update on Moondust.
I'm making progress with Chapter 8. Slow progress, but it's there. I'm trying to tackle the whole thing from a different angle than before which will hopefully give me a better build up to the emotional payoff at the end. Just gotta figure out specifics like the timing and direction, where I want the conversation to go and when, and how to handle a certain shift midway through. Hopefully it all comes together nicely.
It's been a while since chapter 7, so here's what's happening;
I'm doing a rewrite. Not quite a full rewrite but a pretty substantial one. Chapters 1 and 2 have been given a couple of extra lines and paragraphs, but from that point on things start to diverge a lot more from the original. I'm currently writing chapter 6 now, which has turned out to be the equivalent of chapter 4 in the original draft, so it's all a bit longer than before, and I think it's a more solid story overall.
Hey there, just a little update on how things are going.
Chapter 6 is done and edited. I'm just going to finish off the cover image for the story before I post it, but it shouldn't take long. I went through a few different ideas for the cover but I think I've got the right one now.
Just a little update and how things are going.
What I've posted of Moondust so far constitutes the first rough "arc" of the story. The next few chapters are completed and ready to go, but I want to finish up the second arc before doing that. I need to make sure everything is as it should be.
In my uneducated opinion, Terry Pratchett and George R.R. Martin are probably polar opposites.
Moondust version 4? Maybe, but not right now. Some things just need to be left on the shelf until later.
I'm not sure where the year went, but I'm still here, trying and failing to be productive. Chapter 15 is in the final clean-up phase, so expect to see that before the end of next week.
