I’m about half done with the latter, with four images generated and several more remaining as I need them to show the progression of battle and ensure my narration makes sense. Current plan is to release the chapter, titled The Daisy Regiment, tomorrow night. Feedback so far from AJA and others has been quite good, so here’s the promised teaser, with one of the finished graphics at the end:
Courtesy of changeling aficionado Denim_Blue. A quick teaser follows, told from the perspective of Captain Rachnia, commander of Queen Lepidoptes' Royal Guard as matters become quickly dire in their hidden hive beneath the streets of Mosclaw:
you know what would be scary? Something that shows up in the corner of your eye, but it looks like something that would perfectly fit the context of where you are. Near a road; its a car. In the woods; its a tree. In your room; its your reflection in the window. Its always there, and its exactly where it should be. That would be pretty crazy, and why check if anything is wrong when nothing is out of place.
As promised, here’s a teaser for the new chapter, which is about half done. I could actually break it off right where I am, but I won’t this time. This will be another double-sized chapter to describe the final escape from Epsilon, and all the myriad battles that happened within it. Duels, sharp fights, and naval action will be the order of the day, and you’ll get to see our Naval bridge crew and commanders in combat for the first time.
So, uh, Skijarama asked me if he could do a reading of the story in question, and I said yes. So here it is. Enjoy if you’re too lazy to read. It happens to me sometimes.
i guess there would be a intent difference between saying "nothing ever happened" and "everything never happened" whereas the first implied the events didn't happen, the second implies that at one point, they had happened; but if one were to check now, the events would have apparently never existed. This is known as retroactively not doing something. For example if I were to delete this post and then go to every physical place where the post was saved to, and wipe that information; is there any
Sony, you've been perving in on me again, haven't you? Scary fact: I was aggressively criticising a game at one point while playing it and talking about how glitchy it was and my PS4 ejected the disk...does that prove the above?
The next Firefly chapter is well on the way, but even at 8300 words written is not coming quickly. The last three chapters, I found, pretty much wrote themselves as I was doing scenes I'd envisioned for a while. This time? I'm trying to thread a very difficult plot needle and so far I haven't succeeded, either according to myself or the one prereader who has looked at it. Without giving away the game, this has turned into a Fell Flight-centric chapter that's trying to set something up;
And they demand I write more Firefly!

After a work-enforced two weeks away from writing, I’m finally on a weeklong vacation, and the result has been rapid progress on the next Firefly chapter, now at 6500 words and growing quickly. Though I’m uncertain of its final length, there’s a very good chance you’re going to see it launched on or before the weekend. Prereaders, stand by.
I have an actual vacation on the way after a full month of extra hours. It’s been approved for next week, and I plan to do little but decompress and catch up on chores. Actual travel will be limited to maybe a day at the beach.
Apologies for not checking in earlier as I promised. To make a long story short, the surgery happened on time and went off without a hitch; I was sent home a few hours later with a stack of gauze and medical tape to catch the seemingly endless drainage. It also hurt, but it turned out I didn’t need more than a couple pills of hydrocodone when all was said and done.
Before I show you guys the EK update, just wanted to say that BRONYCON IS TOMORROW, and I'm very excited, so if anyone's going to be there and wants to hang out or talk about horses, look for the young woman wearing a pikachu hat or holding a pikachut hat, or just look for a pikachu hat. Probably in Quills and Sofas.
Or, alternatively and probably easier, yell "RARITWI IS THE BEST" into the crowd and look for the person who yells "IT'S SO TRUEEEEE".
Guessed it wasn't going to take two full weeks but here's 8000ish words I guess.
Next chapter will have some Applejack since I need to use her and Rarity cause Rarity actually is fun to write sometimes.
Funny how I feel like I haven't actually written any words and then I look at the word count and worry I'm going too slow with things. Well it works and at some point it will have an ending.
Tentatively titled “Spoiling Strike”, it’s been very well-received by prereaders to this point, but I’m having a horrible time with the second combat section involving Kaval/Gaius, and if’s not finished to satisfaction by September 1st, I’ll release the chapter without it.
Tentatively titled Answers, it's coming quickly now, and will likely release well before September 1st. Which is fine, because that means the second chapter can be reserved for the anniversary of the story's launch. Expect no combat in this chapter but its aftermath, and a tearjerker scene or two including another harmony-fueled song inspired by a certain famous fantasy series.
A teaser was promised. And so it is delivered:
Target release date is Sunday, September 30th. What to expect? No major battles this time, as I think we need a break from them, but we'll get into the aftermath of the raids, including the gryphon search for the mole at Raptor, a parley at Epsilon, a check-in with Royal Navy Battle Group Four, another meeting with Sky Sentry, and... a song.
As Silverblade5 pointed out, the duel between Gavian and Thunderbolt lasted considerably longer than five minutes. And though it's tempting to say that this simply happened on DBZ time, using their definition of five minutes (where it lasts eight episodes), I won't.
... and I need someone to draw and/or name it.
(biological descriptions ahead, please be mature)
here's what I've imagined:
