    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Post-surgery update · 9:58pm May 14th, 2022

Apologies for not checking in earlier as I promised. To make a long story short, the surgery happened on time and went off without a hitch; I was sent home a few hours later with a stack of gauze and medical tape to catch the seemingly endless drainage. It also hurt, but it turned out I didn’t need more than a couple pills of hydrocodone when all was said and done.

A day later, the pain isn’t bad, but my nose is completely stopped up and still I’m bleeding lightly out of my nostrils. It’s also very hard to sleep when you’re not a mouth-breather. It basically feels like the worst cold I’ve ever had, except I’m not allowed to blow my nose to clear it. Reason being that it could aggravate the damage if you tried.

But enough of that. It’s noticeably better today, and I assume will keep getting better as I go. As such, I’m going to try resuming writing tomorrow on Harmonic Resonance. I’ll ambitiously aim for a next-weekend release there, followed by the intent of getting a new Firefly chapter out by Memorial Day here in the USA (May 30th). And even all that aside, I need to plan a vacation for June. I haven’t been out to Vegas to play poker since 2019. In fact, I haven’t played poker period since that year.

But all in good time. I’m going to take a walk, then make some comfort food in the form of a Mexican meal. The least I can say about this round of surgery is that my appetite wasn’t affected and I can eat normally. That has definitely not been the case for previous surgeries.

Whoa, that sounds really rough. I'm glad that you're progressing in your recovery but please don't overextend yourself. Health is always important.

Best of luck with the story, Sensei!

Get better soon, don't push yourself to hard and reeeeelax :raritywink:

Glad to hear you're okay.
