So, uh... it's technically the right day. Sorry about that.
No code this time.
No worries, and quite a neat chapter. The ball to drop, and certainly to see the nature of what they are soon. But thank you for a fun story update before I rest.
God I love reading this story.
Whisper x Sickle is my new favorite ship. I will not budge on this. They will eventually make loving snu-snu.
7202988 I got to sleep waiting. Meh, i can live with 2 hours of beeing late. Now gimme. It's gonna be gud!
Noooooo, Chryssie died?!
So o guess it's not in continuity with your other changeling stories.
That actually turned out better than I suspected. Funny that Sickle is the one having least problems with it.
Sweet Celestia that was worth the wait
7203101 I'm sure there's a gag gif somewhere appropriate to doing anything sexual with Sickle. I don't even want to imagine how filthy her snatch is.
I also choose to believe she's washed it at least once since this fic started, even suspecting that she most likely hasn't.
Queen Crysalis versus the Rifle - 1:0 for the Rifle
Now that was a piece of enlighting shiet. I wonder what we'll see next, the bodies Whisper burned down aren't propably around and someone propably looted the place. Dusty can at some point become a real antagonist to Whisper if this keeps going. Also Sick(le) Sex option. Very Fallout-y.
I wonder why this story isn't yet on Fallout:Equestria Wiki. Propably because it's not finished yet but I like to keep positive.
This story just keeps getting better and better!
I really wish Dusty would recognize logic when it's presented to him, especially from such an unexpected source as Sickle. Shouldn't soldiers be taught not to let their feelings impact their judgement?
Great chapter as always.

...not really... *cough*
7203101
Preach it, brother! Sickle just keeps getting better as story goes on. And being social outcast herself she's pretty chill to things like magic love sucking bugs.
Whisper x Sickle for life
And everything didn't go down the drain. Mostly. Now to wait for Dusty to stop being an ass about it.
7203146
Just make her take a shower. Then get into shower and help her clean... then 'help her clean'
7203458 Do you want Rads? 'Cause that's how you get rads.
7203464
Eh, they have potions for that. And don't tell me you're not thinking about being between strong thighs of a mare that killed hundreds of ponies and how hot it'll be, taking her while she growls and purrs.
7203466 I'm too civilized and morally uptight to be attracted to Sickle like that. I will admit though I'm very much liking her treatment of Whimper now that she sees her as a potential badass. (Although I have a bad feeling about this)
Whisper on the other hand? Got to love a mare that has all the skills to be a horrible person but somehow manages to have a good moral compass.
7203489
Hey! Don't forget that Sickle is former raider. And while she can be very much unpleasant to talk with, she didn't even kill two home invaders that day, while many of 'civilized' ponies would've. And, from what we know, she was the one that decided 'fuck raider stuff I'll kill them all and be on my own' . Sickle also kills raiders and helps town, even if she's in for caps and booze.
To be frank, between Dusty and Sickle, especially in later chapters, I'd like to team up with Sickle than military dusty-ass.
Gotta admit, Whisper is good, though. Them shapeshifters are irresistible.
Holy crud, I just loved this chapter. Chiming in for the first time: I'm really enjoying this story, and it's amazingly written.
7203144 Pretty sure they mentioned earlier about it not being in continuity.
Admittedly, like, waaaaay earlier, but still.
Git gud.
7203454 Now now, the donkeys are a bit nicer and far less cranky than dusty is being. Tis not nice to insult the sons of a mule there haha. But of all things, im sorta wondering why its dusty that had the hardest issue. I sorta figured sickle or starlight would be, despite sickles direct nature.
7203144
Yep, different continuity. Would be kind of hard to reconcile actual-alicorn Twilight with Fallout: Equestria history!
7203160
It's not on the wiki because... I'm lazy (I've had the "Side Stories" wiki info page open in a background tab for a few months now...)
7203167
Dusty comes from an environment and profession where complacency kills, and where one really needs to treat everything as a threat until proven otherwise. He just found out that one of his companions isn't an innocent and somewhat vulnerable 'newbie' but an experienced spy who just wiped out a few dozen mercenaries who can look like whatever she wants and can feed on ponies. Being a little wary is probably a good thing.
Though do consider where it was that he relented...
7203466
I'm amused by the phrasing of "taking her". Just make sure you've got a healing potion or two for when she's done taking you!
7203544
Thank you!
7203810
I assume it's because he's a combination of grumpy and extremely cautious. It took him a while to trust Whisper and Starlight, and now he's faced with something weird, unknown, and self-admittedly and demonstrably dangerous. His wasteland instincts are probably telling him that the safest and easiest course of action is the good old standby: "Shoot it, then see if a trader will pay for the remains."
Dusty. Dusty stahp. When you have to be logic'd by Sickle, you're flat-out being an ass.
Good to see Starlight is coming around at least.
7203820 I kidda wish all the Fallout Equestria stories were on the wiki. It would be awesome...
7203820
On one hand, true, on the other, considering just why he wiped out these mercs and how many opportunities to do them harm she already had, unless Dusty fears that she might be stark raving mad and inconsistent in her life choices, the decision is boarderline pointless.
Plus it seems to me that when he relented it was more because he had no time and would face an actual loss should he not do that. During peaceful travel there is no loss in that caution.
I gotta add for the peace of my mind, this is merely my personal opinion. I'm not trying tell you how to write your own characters, especially considering how well you're doing it.
really good chapter. Can't believe Dusty basically told her to starve, he's not handling this super well.
7203820
Well, I mean, technically you are fucking her. Even if she's taking you. Which I don't mind in the slightest, strong females turn me on so much.
7203901 Given his own history here, has certainly no reason to call the kettle here overall. But I do get that train of thought. It's just more that he has quite the past that could be run parallel in this case for what isnt said.
7203499 Dusty strikes me as the kind of pony that has embraced the mercenary life a little too hard. I think it takes something serious these days for him to care without being paid.
Or related to his old life.
Dusty has trust issues~ !
Justified, perhaps, but I'm still going to make light of it! Speaking of justified, Whisper did skip over the potential for mind influence. That's going to be a barrel of fun to deal with if it comes up.
Please tell me they yoinked some of the Ranger armor. Helmets or no, those things are sweet!

7202988 Sir, you present us chapters of an epic story on a very frequent schedule. You have absolutely nothing you need to apologize for!
You'd be surprised. Never seen American Beauty?
Probably ain't even the weirdest shit she's seen!
Far as I see, she only hid one single thing about herself. It just happened to be her species...
Yup. Sure is worth considering, Dusty...
Wonder if she'll include the "emotion feeding" detail in that "everything"
Aheh. There we go
Yeah, as I have noticed before, she's actually a pretty fast thinker. Thank you, Sickle, for that prompt and succinct summary of Whisper's situation
Um. And now the big question... hers, or someone else's? I mean, doesn't she have an endoskeleton, technically, internally?
They're all dead! Just tell him that, sheesh. As far as you know, that's the truth, even if you don't want to face it
Ah. There ya go. All dead. Yup. ...
What, going all the way back to that facility and digging up the whole mess? I think she burned most of the remains
Hah! Sneaky. Trying to get him to assist in your investigation
Awwww come on! She just got a kickass minigun! What, you're gonna give it to Sickle? She's so careless she'll accidentally sit her
fatmuscly ass on it! You know she will!"Well, yes. Besides the obvious, I mean."
Very good point. She kinda tried, and failed, to manipulate Sickle
Hah. Dusty's "no weapons" got overruled by their Majority of One
For some reason that is a hilarious mental image.
Ah, yup. Kinda called that.
Well, most of that was done with explosives, actually.
no, no. Let's put a more positive spin to that. She can't live without you! In a romantic sense!
Ponies should be happy, durnit. Changelings have kept the maddeningly saccharine emotosphere of Equestria clean for centuries!
Yeeeah... no. And what then? What good would that ever have done, to anyone involved?
Aw, Starlight, you didn't? What terrible bedside manners!
Sickle is best pony
Aw, fuck yea! Pineapple! You lucky bitch!
No, she's helping all right. Just needs to actually whack him over the head a few times, too.
Remarks and corrections:
None of the stuff there actually confirms whether she changed or not; it kind of looks like she was interrupted from the pain. You might want to clarify that a little, because throughout this all I really thought all this meant she failed to transform
That was my favorite bit.
I suspect Dusty's misgivings are partially because Whisper saved them in such a spectacular way. If that hadn't happened, Whisper could play up the whole "I'm confused and lost and helpless" bit, but now Dusty sees her as someone who could be incredibly dangerous if their relationship goes south.
I actually find myself least impressed with Starlight. Sickle is great, and somehow is looking at the situation with a clear head. Dusty is cold, but logical and cautious. I get it. Starlight, though...
I mean, I get that she's emotional and feels betrayed and everything, and she's not wrong, but a lot of the stuff she said during the chapter annoyed me in a way that Dusty hadn't.
Anyway, great chapter! Looking forward to the next.
This is one of my favorite FOE fics.
Mainly because it has the feel of New Vegas. It has the desolation and death of the FO universe, but mixed with hope and good individuals, in their own twisted way.
7204852
Yeah, I really like having her there to give commentary. She's got the right combination of insight and not-giving-a-shit to make things fun.
She's physically identical to a pony when shapeshifted, so yeah. I was originally going to clarify whether it was hers or not, but then decided to leave it ambiguous.
Well, she did establish that she counts as at least three ponies all on her own. I'm sure Starlight will tell her that's not how democracy works, either, and Sickle will probably listen about as well as last time.
I kind of thought the next line made it clear. Her thoracic plate wouldn't have turned into ribs if she hadn't changed.
7204844
I just wanted you to know that image response got a good laugh. Thank you.
7204882
Yeah, Starlight is very emotional. It's got its downsides to go with its upsides...
7205640
Thank you! That hope was something I really wanted to have, so that's probably the best compliment I could receive for this story.
Also, probably no surprise that New Vegas was my favorite of the recent Fallouts (Maybe even all of them).
Like I said before, I counted TWO lies in the entire story so far: 1) She ain't a pony 2) She didn't come from a farm. ...And maybe a few inconsequential smaller ones I can't remember.
Sickle is a bit of a mystery to me as well, but with how many times I've gone into a saturday night murder rampage just for the hell of it, (in video games) I can still relate to her and can kinda see where she's coming from. I think Wisper's guess is pretty damn close. Especially when she showed up the rest of the team that Sickle previously thought was full of wusses in kill count and general badassery. I wouldn't care who they are if they could pull something like that.
7205805
Ohh. "or between the ribs it had turned into." Missed that detail, yup.
Right. The wound in the previous chapter which she ignored because of the adrenalin, going from external damaged chitin to internal broken ribs. I see now
7205805
Now I kinda want to see an outtake where Whisper is just like, "Oh, by the way, I'm feeding on your emotions so I don't die. You might feel a headache coming on."
And see Starlight's reaction.
Man, Dusty's getting a lot of attention, isn't he? I'd just like to throw in a couple thoughts for consideration.
First, consider that he doesn't have our knowledge. All he knows is what he personally witnessed. Consider what he witnessed of Whisper before, and what he has witnessed of her now. Also keep in mind that, along with the details she has told him that support her, she also admitted to being a professional liar.
And second, consider at what point it was that he relented, as well as other points earlier in the story where Dusty has shown a similar change from the somewhat gruff and cynical behavior he usually displays.
(And suddenly I feel like my Lit professor, prompting the class for discussion... welp, back to gaming! )
7206929 loved the update, like the character interactions, and really really reeeeaaaalllly wanna give whisper a hug.....she's trying so hard just to survive. I can't imagine what it'll be like to show dusty and the gang her former home.....thats gonna be rough.
And I can't wait! XD
On chapter 2. loving the story so far <3
Seriously, she was already malnourished. What part of "I needed to protect myself from certain death, and I'm putting a lot of faith in you ponies by telling you about this" did you not understand? Your feelings are understandable. Letting them impact your decisions like this? It's... not.
Once more broken,
the pieces of a beautiful mirror lie
among trodden earth while
the sound of bells ring.
In day turned to night,
ever-cold,
soon abandoned
into the rain of raging and despair.
Know the scorned need prioritise
the prized bonds woven so firm
within storms and conflict.
For this is a mistake.
Awaiting further releases.
So far its been a very good read.
I have a few theories as to the characters:
Lancer was Midnight's gun, and its the only thing Starlight still has of hers.
Dusty witnessed/took part some kind of atrocity set up by Gun; he figured it out too late
Sickle was like "Quicksilver" when she was younger. Captured and raped until near death; she snapped and castrated the rapist thus earning the "respect" of the other raiders whom she ran with for some time. That was until they went to her old home village and the flashbacks and such drove her to slaughter the whole raider group and go off on her own as effectively a raider of raiders.
Whisper's special "holotape" is her Queen's final orders and an apology for being unable to save them
The history about the Pony - Changeling Conflict, that Whisper described, was scrubbed by the government for fear of paranoia. The soldiers sent to end Chrysalis were made keep full secrecy of the operation.

While I doubt that's the official Fallout: Equestria canon (The episode with them came out something like a week before the end of the story was published), I do like the idea. Raiders have been grounds for a lot of speculation, and the idea of some sort of magical/emotional corruption is surprisingly rare, considering how such themes have been touched on in the show. I'm not sure if I'd personally go that way, but it's certainly an interesting idea to consider.
7260705
If Whisper had started out well-fed, she could have gone for several weeks. Problem is, she started out completely starved, and has been getting by on the casual, friendly affection of only a single pony. It's been enough to survive, but not to build up her reserves. The celebration in Mareford gave her a bit more, but she still hasn't gotten any proper love, and spent some of that energy in the fight. She's still got enough for a few days, so it's not quite critical yet, but it's getting there.
Changelings survived just fine pre-megaspells, because there were so many ponies that they could get a good number of friends, or even lovers, with many opportunities for those ponies to express that affection so a changeling can feed on it. Whisper could easily build up enough of a reserve to last for weeks. The last two weeks, she's been making do with only a single friend, and Starlight hasn't had much opportunity to relax and simply feel affection towards Whisper, limiting her ability to feed. It's significantly less "food" than Whisper is used to.
Next chapter shouldn't be too long. Was a bit slow because of class, and totally not because of the several anticipated games that came out recently...
well, just read the entire thing in one sitting and i have to say, it's just as good as i expected. i loved your other stories and this one is just as good, if not better. i love whisper, i enjoy sickle, i adore star and i respect dusty.
sadly, not much else i can say right now, since i need a while to sort out everything in my head, but again, great story and i'm looking for more. keep up the good work
I liek dis storey, I want moar
Nice so far...
7209756 heh, more poems for comments. love it!
