Princess Twilight Sparkle has been faced with a difficult decision. Unsure of what to do, she seeks advice from her old mentor, Celestia. The ex-ruler of Equestria may not have an answer for her, but she does have a story. A story about guilt. A story about the greater good.

A story about the day after the worst day of her life.

Finally, it was here. Power Ponies issue number four-hundred and nineteen, the grand finale of the 'Spectacular Siege of the Silver Stallion' arc. Spike had completed all the chores on his list, finished his afternoon nap, and ploughed through his dinner. He'd even eaten all his green vegetables. At last he could settle down, with a small bowl of gems to snack on, and experience the most anticipated comic issue in living memory.

Sadly for him, Twilight was acting strange. At least, stranger than usual.

There's no way that the eternal student, Twilight Sparkle, would ever just walk up to the object of her affections and confess her love without preparation, right? So when she shows up at Rarity's doorstep, frazzled and out of sorts, to ask about love of all things, Rarity knows what she needs is to be taught. Of course, Rarity's no Princess, but she knows a thing or two about romance, so what else can the Element of Generosity do but offer lessons?

A couple pretend dates and some pretend kissing will give Twilight the knowledge and confidence she needs to ask her prospective special somepony out... But who is this mystery mare, anyway?

After an unknown incident leaves Princess Celestia unsure if her precious pupil is alive, dead, or something in-between, the future of Equestria seems uncertain. With the elements compromised, the crown thrown into disarray, and Celestia herself flagging under the weight of her fear and grief, the solar diarch resorts to extra-dimensional assistance to unravel this mystery...

"Sweetie, Are ya okay? Ah took a medical kit if ya need help?" Apple Bloom said as Sweetie kept totally still, the pair in front of her making no move to enter the small cave.

"Please do not harm this unit." The voice was distorted, damage to the vocal box giving a metallic tang to the request. Both Bloom and subject 2 jumped back from the entrance, their eyes wide at the distorted voice.

"S-Sweetie?" Apple Bloom stammered, reaching for the shotgun strapped to her barrel. Sweetie pressed herself a little deeper into her hiding place.

"Please do not harm this unit." Sweetie tried again, various subsystems starting to simulate the most optimal way to fight in her current state.

"H-Hey Sweetie, t-that's you, right?" subject two asked, sounding even more terrified than Apple Bloom.

A small Sweetie Bot story I had in the back of my mind and have occasionally dotted down things for for the last 9 months. Hopefully a fun read!

This story takes place during the Season Five finale, "The Cutie Re-Mark". As such, there are spoilers ahead.

Starlight Glimmer's plan is working. All she has to do is upset Rainbow Dash's rainboom-creating race in the past, and Twilight Sparkle's connection with her friends will be severed. And she's done it. Repeatedly. Sure, Twilight can go back in time to try and stop her, but Starlight will always be brought back as well. No matter what Twilight tries, no matter how many times she returns, she can't stop Starlight. They're evenly-matched, and it's much easier to disrupt events than it is to preserve them.

That means Starlight wins, right?
