The pegasus filly Fluttershy meets a new friend in Ponyville named Rainbow Dash who takes it upon herself to teach the shy little pony how to fly.

Note: This was written before Cutie Mark Chronicles aired, and as such does not take into account RD and FS growing up in Cloudsdale.

Losing the defining thing that makes you who you are would be hard for anypony. Where do you go from there? How do you cope? How do your friends? How hard is it to start from scratch? Rainbow Dash never had to worry about these things. Not until the worst storm in Equestrian history. Now she has to cling to that which she still has, and discover for herself that there is much more out there to live for than she originally believed.

Luna is off in search of a falling star so that her wish of ponies enjoying her beautiful night would come true. However, she never could have imagined the feelings of friendship felt after meeting Rainbow Dash and how the pegasus pony might change her forever.

When Soarin is injured during a performance, there's only one pony cool enough to stand in for him. But nopony ever said that achieving your dreams was supposed to be easy, and before Rainbow Dash gets her chance to finally fly with the Wonderbolts she's going to need some help from an unexpected source...

On a perfect day, Rainbow Dash notices mysterious storm clouds above Canterlot. There is something wrong about these clouds, especially since they weren't scheduled by the Cloudsdale press. At Twilight's pleading, she goes to investigate, but what she finds isn't what she was necessarily hoping to.

After an ancient spell from Twilight goes awry, Fluttershy finds herself in a new world of powerful creatures. Whilst Fluttershy struggles in the new found world, Twilight is forced to leave Equestria to find the spell to bring her back. As Twilight and her friends journey through the outer lands of Equestria, Fluttershy attempts to uncover what shadows lurk just beyond Hoenn's sight.

Contains slightly dark images and scenarios. All events are based off of season one continuity, speculation and fantastical story elements. Any conflicting canon after season one is a result of the story being created before the premiere of season two.

The trip pits them against a creature dwelling deep in the forest, and the encounter changes Rainbow Dash's entire view of her gentle, reserved friend. As she spends more time with her following their return from Everfree, she finds her feelings for Fluttershy changing and is forced to deal with something she's never had to face before -- something that could possibly interfere with her dreams. While Rainbow Dash struggles with her first crush (with a little help from her friends), a lonely Pinkie Pie struggles with her resulting feelings of resentment and is drawn into an unhealthy friendship with a strange unicorn living on the outskirts of the forest...
