Great and Powerful Trixie lands the performance opportunity of a lifetime. A kingdom and all its riches are hers - as long as her audience doesn't kill her first.

The Great and Powerful Trixie is a very respectable marefriend, putting aside some minor issues like theft, failing to read her letters properly and general cheekiness. It's how she ended up with not one, but two wonderful partners, neither of which she'd abandon for the world.
The afterworld is a different kettle of fish. It's a kettle that requires too much prep time and unnecessarily fancy instructions, and going over its proverbial recipes requires sacrifices that honestly aren't worth it. Not that those facts will stop ponies with delusions of sacrificial heroism, of which there are far too many in Equestria.
Good thing The Great and Powerful Trixie is a far more effective mediator. Hearth's Warming Eve might be gloomy without her insightful presence.

Hopefully this fits to your taste. I'll admit things got a bit strange the more an idea calcified in my brain, and if it's not to your liking I can write something else. ^_^;
In a game of truth or dare, sometimes truth can be more interesting...and disturbing. Such is the case when Trixie is asked why she refers to herself in the third person and casually explains how little regard she has for ethics.
Contains rather gross comedy as well as dark, copious cider consumption, and clones.
Why does Starlight have a crush on Trixie? What made her think this way? And should she ask her out or not?
Starlight has a lot of questions for herself and they're very confusing. Surely she should be able to find the answers to them if she just gets a second to clear her head. After all, she's the most powerful unicorn spellcaster alive! There's nothing she cannot do if she approaches it with a rational, reasonable mindset.
Probably.

There's nothing left that can save Equestria. Not Discord, not Celestia, not Luna, not Cadance, not Princess Flurry Heart. But their presence can at least buy Starlight Glimmer time to escape. She just needs to convince Trixie to come with her.

Starlight and Trixie don't get to talk a lot; Trixie's always traveling, and Starlight's always busy with her mentor, Twilight. And for the most part that's okay, because Trixie can catch up with Starlight whenever she comes back into town. Maybe it's a while between her stops in Ponyville, but that's okay, she doesn't really like the town all that much anyways. And the last time she tried to bring Starlight with her on a tour, there were a lot of problems.
But it's okay. Because Trixie has been thinking. She's had a lot of time to think, because there's not much else to do out on the road. Mostly about how to solve those problems.
Not long after becoming Equstria's new reigning monarch, Twilight receives a letter from Prince Blueblood. It's not a declaration of war from the land's rightful ruler to the unprincipled usurper who's claimed the throne, and he explains why.
My entry in the 2022 Crackship Contest, this story didn't make the top eleven.
Pinkie Pie regularly goes out of her way to make her friends feel good. Every one of them thanks her in their own way, but she wasn't expecting Twilight's simple little gesture to leave her so utterly and thoroughly confused.
