Retirement. It was a tough subject for Spitfire. She knew she was about to retire soon, but she hadn' t notified Fleetfoot and Soarin of her decision. Unfortunately for Spitfire, Fleetfoot already knows and is more than apt to tell her all of her feelings on the matter. She's angry. She's anxious. She's upset.

She just wants Spitfire not to leave. Was it that hard to want something like this in life?

Apparently to Spitfire, there's more to this than meets the eye.

Written originally for a Speedwrite for Quills and Sofas' Spitfire Contest under both prompts Leave No One Behind and Finish Line, where it tied for 1st place. This is a revised expanded version of said fic that is now a submission to the 2024 Wonderbolts Sitewide Contest.

In the middle of a party held in honor of the one and only Anonymous, Princess Celestia notices that the man of the hour is missing. Worried for her little human, she finds him sitting on the curb, alone.

Quite inebriated, Anon let's Celestia in on a secret, one that can be quite self-destructive.

It seems, another heart to heart is in order.

The second week of Anon's impromptu displacement had gone reasonably well. The quaint folk of Ponyville have taken him in as well they could, considering his origins and uncommon physique. The local Goddess' of day and night bequeathed him a place to call his own (a bit of a fixer-upper, but he'll manage), and even granted him citizenship!

So why does he feel so conflicted? As the young man struggles to get his emotions under control, said horse Goddess butts in to keep him company.

He really doesn't mind.

Anon, after a seminar out in Manehattan, is due back home at eight. When he's over an hour late, Twilight starts to overthink things - right up until she hears snow boots crunching outside her front door.

Following a superbly successful fashion show, Rarity and her model, Anon, are invited to a night of celebration at a supremely exclusive establishment in the skyline of Manehattan. As it's usually open only to elites and celebrities, the two upstarts feel hopelessly out of depth, but they press on together; after all, no matter how much one's worries may weigh them down, they're bound to drift away in the Cosmos.

Fluttershy had her suspicions. After all, no one knows her body quite like she does. As a result, it came as no surprise when the doctor told her the big news:
