Yes, I did this · 2:59pm Aug 14th, 2022
Hiya, Zak here, also known as The_0b5erver but hopefully you've figured that out. If not, then well, you're probably gonna get really confused over the course of the next few paragraphs.
Anyhow, onto the topic of today's post:
Yes, I did this. I know, I know, bad writer, go sit in the "50 stories started, 0 finished corner" but listen, we both know I am an absolute proffesional with multiple distinctions in writing pony fanfiction (or so the handsome guy in the mirror tells me), so I can promise you I'll be able to handle this without it all being derailed.
In any case, I know that information about how my writing struggles is going isn't the reason you're here. Oh yeah my little reader, I know you're only after that sweet, sweet information about the story's origins. Don't worry, there's no shame in it. We're all busy in the modern world, so if you're willing to listen to even a part of my antics, I shall already be greatful.
Now then, L5R3 ("Left 5 into right 3, deceptive" shortened for ease of use) takes it's roots in my interest in rallying, which in itself is a byproduct of a steam shopping streak that went ouf of control. During it, I purchased a little something called Dirt4, which is a more arcade like rally sim, and after it sat in my library for a good year, I finally decided to get into it.
At first, it was pretty dull, I didn't really understand anything, spent my time messing around in the joyride open area section and then signed off, but then one day, I picked it up again and created my first custom stage and by god, it was glorious. My biggest hurdle at the start, were the constant crashes as I just tried to memorise stages instead of listening to my co-driver, which was less than effective.
That initial period along with the urge to bring awareness of rallying as a sport to more people is where the idea for this fic was born. Of course, like pretty much all of my stories, it evolved over time, until we were left with the current iteration, with a skilled driver and a new co-driver set to face off against great odds.
Now, apart from this being the first time I actually took my writing semi-seriously, it's also the first time I write second-person, so do keep that in mind before you go out and spread slander like "This guy never actually learned proper writing techniques", because that is definitely not the case. I know exactly what I'm doing, but if you do have knowledge in writing, you should tell me all about it so I can make sure you're as professional as me.
Anyhow, that's all for now. I know it will be hard to do without constantly reading my amazing blogs, but do try to have a good day today. I believe in you on this one, so you've practically got it in the bag already, you absolute legend. See ya next time.
P.S. Jokes aside, if you have some constructive criticism to dish out, you can either do it via comments, or alternatively my discord is on my about page. Also feel free to just hit me up to chat, recommend things to read, or if you want my help on your story. No like, serously, I need to start talking to people. I've been talking to my reflection for the past 3 weeks straight, and it's starting to answer back. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen and it's kinda creeping me out.
