The Sparrow in the Storm: A PoL Magnum Opus · 5:42am Dec 25th, 2021
So, I'll just start this off by saying it's been a long time coming.
In short: Yes, I will be writing another Price of Loyalty story after a long time.
In long:
I'm sure this comes as a bit of a surprise. After all, I haven't done anything related to the Price of Loyalty in a long, long, long time. But over this past summer, I was struck with a massive bit of inspiration. You see, there was probably nobody more disappointed than me, myself, when I canceled Summer Lands because of how horrifically convoluted and terrible it was. It was supposed to be the last story in the Commander Hurricane trilogy. This was supposed to be my Price of Loyalty magnum opus. But instead, it was whatever the opposite of that is. It was bloated, meandered through nowhere plots, and got dragged down by its own crushing weight. And for a long time, the failure of this story crushed me. Even though I continued to write on this site, the failure of Summer Lands made me not want to touch anything Price of Loyalty related for a long time. And I mean a long time. I had, more or less, given up on ever writing for it again.
But then in the summer of 2021, something funny happened.
I had an idea, and it wouldn't leave me alone. It was an idea I had to write out of my mind to get it to stop bothering me. So I wrote it. And then when I sat back and wrote it, I realized it was one of the best things I'd written in a long time. And better than that, it was PoL related. Truly PoL related, centered around Commander Typhoon and the world she found herself in in her golden years. And after talking it over with my friends and editors, I realized I had something golden myself that, if I took the leap, I could expand upon and turn into my true PoL magnum opus, a story to make up for the failures of Summer Lands and how they weighed down on me.
So I did it.
It has been many months in the making, and it is an adventure which I don't know how it will end. But I've had great fun writing it, fun I haven't had in quite some time, and I realize now that this is what I've always wanted to do. This is the send off to PoL I've always wanted to write. And now, finally, I will get to write it.
The story still has a lot of work left to get it released, but I can tell you this. It centers around and old soldier out of her place. It centers around the forgotten fringes of early Equestrian society, and the lives these ponies live while separated from the government of Everfree. It centers around questions of what it takes for somepony to live out on the edge of society, and what a detached government means for them. It's the wild west of PoL fics in essence, but so much of so many other things. It centers around my passion for worldbuilding and the desire to answer questions that few have bothered to answer from this time period in the show's canon.
It centers around a sparrow in a storm, flying against the gale that wants nothing more than to toss it into the darkness and feed it to the wolves.

This story centers around an aging Commander Typhoon in an Equestria that is on the brink of falling apart. Many things have happened from the conclusion of Snow and Shadows and the continuity of this story; though you may not find them on my page, this story is as good as any to start filling in the gaps. I am writing this story as a standalone tale, but those who have been along for the ride will appreciate it nonetheless. And I hope that you too will appreciate it as much as I have in writing it, in finally getting what I feel is, if nothing else, a fitting conclusion to my active participating in writing in the Price of Loyalty continuity.
I cannot say when this story will be released to the public, but I'm hoping for early 2022 as I get my writing schedule squared away. But I can say this; rest assured that since I've gone out of the way to commission cover art for it, it will happen. The only question is when, and how regularly. But whenever it does drop, I hope to see so many of you along for the ride. I built my fimfic career upon the success of my Price of Loyalty stories; I can only hope that those of you from the old guard will join me one more time as I finally revisit it after so many years.
In short, I hope to see you here for the conclusion of Commander Typhoon Stormblade's story. I hope it will be a tale to be remembered when it is completed.
And now, more than ever, the ancient words of the Legion seem as fitting as they will ever be.
