Yeah, that's me, Scootaloo. I'm sure you're wondering how I got into this situation. Well, it all started with.....
Since early 2014, I am writing ponyfics here on FIMFiction.net. It was in February, in the week right after "Pinkie Pride" aired, that I wrote and released my first MLP: FiM fanfiction "The Best Present She Could Wish For".
Since 2016, when I started writing "'Princess Flurry Heart, Destroyer of Worlds!'", and a short time later Aunt Millie, I am writing with an organized, regular schedule and aim for a writing career and to make it like the best pony authors in the fandom did. Almost a year later, I had to deal with a mentally challenging event that occured at the start of 2017 and its long aftermath, which affected my writing skill and made writing difficult for more than two and a half years.
I was finally able to fully recover from this event and began to work myself back up at the end of 2019 and kept doing so during 2020 and the first couple months of this year. Now my writing skill and my writing discipline are back to where they've been in 2016 and early 2017 when I wrote my two hit stories and gained so much experience through them. And I have as many writing projects planned as ever, this time with a quality of writing that rivals, and will eventually surpass, the two best stories I have written so far. What most of my readers here probably don't know, though, is that I am also a pony artist, sometimes.
Since 2013, I have participated in Equestria's Daily's yearly Newbie Artist Training Grounds and submitted multiple pony drawings to the event in each year, with the only exceptions being 2017 and 2019. I rarely draw ponies and the NATG are one of the few times when I do, my primary profession is writing ponyfics, and drawing ponies is (so far) a side activity when I find time or are in the mood to draw a pony. I have, despite rare practice, made a decent amount of progress in the last eight years. This year, with the 11th iteration of the Newbie Artist Training Grounds, I want to introduce all of you to a new creative side of mine.
To present my pony artist side, I will release each drawing I make for the Newbie Artist Training Grounds XI together with its accompanying description and the link to the upload of it in a blog entry.
Above, you can already find the first picture I drew this year. It's a picture of Scootaloo, I decided to start the event with her because she is my favourite pony, something that comes with a wonderful, symbolic meaning here, as my first ponyfic was also about Scootaloo. The picture tells a tiny story that is open to interpretation and uses the "*Record Scratch* *Freeze Frame*" meme in the description.
Maybe it inspires you and you can come up with a story to explain what exactly happened to Scootaloo there? Sparking inspiration is something I hope this picture does, if you get any ideas from it, feel free to share them here in the comments.
The picture didn't make the cut with the submission deadline, it was too late to meet it when I could start drawing yesterday, but I will submit it for the first Make-Up Day that happens after the tenth prompt and I am aiming to draw a picture on each day. This is a goal that I haven't reached yet in any of the years, due to a mix of lack of discipline to draw and events getting in the way of finding time to draw a picture, but I try every year and this year, I have an extremely good feeling that I can make it, a better feeling than in any of the years before.
