What happened to the Woods? · 5:16am Mar 27th, 2021
A while back when RPs were outlawed here on fimfiction, a lot of my friends from the RP group I belonged to moved to an MLP focused RP site called Whitetail Woods. Some of my closest friends have been there ever since, but recently the site went down for Maintenance and hasn't been up since. Does anyone know anything about what happened? If you do, please let me know, or if you can see what you can find out, I would appreciate it.
I found a Wayback Machine save from the 20th of January, and it looks like the site was more or less dead; no forum posts in a year, only one mod on in the last month. Were you actively contacting friends through it? Because it doesn't look like there was anybody to contact. Seems to me it shut down because nobody was using it.

The website also had an "adults only" section that you had to have donated to the site to access, which is where we had our regular contacts through.

Ah, that would explain the seeming discrepancy between barren public forum and your description of ongoing contacts. However, the moderators would presumably be the same for both sides of the coin, and all but one of them being inactive, as well as at least two of the three admins (the third one had hidden their "last on" tracker), still talks to a mostly dead site. As for donations... there's a "recent donations" bar on the side, and the last one listed is January 2018. That's three years without a penny. So I revise my guess from "it shut down because it was a dead site" to "it shut down because it was a mostly dead site" and resubmit.

Dang. This is the first time I've learned of this site and it looked like it would've been interesting. I took a squizz on the wayback machine myself and there was a posting at some point (2017ish) about reviving the site. So, seemed like (the public section, at least) was dead for quite some time.
