For probably the first time, I don't have any unpublished stories on this site · 4:27am Jan 30th, 2020
Despite not writing nearly as much as I used to (seriously, looking at that graph on my About page tells quite a story), I've still managed to come back to this site and write...stuff. I've had plenty of stories that sat in that unpublished section for months, some maybe even more than a year. Out of all of them, I'd say probably 30% or so eventually made their way into complete stories. Or at least, stories that were mostly complete (Sorry to anyone who was getting into Changing What Can't Be Changed or The Princess Infestation, although the latter still has a mostly finished chapter three).
But today I decided to just delete those unpublished stories (not the ones mentioned above, but ones I've never published). I think I just need to wait for the right ideas to come along and to run with one at a time. My previous blog posts were one example that kind of just fizzled out due to lack of interest. A recent idea I've had is a sci-fi alternate universe story, where I use a few of the Mane Six as characters but more like the general "idea" of that character than that character specifically, if that makes any sense. Basic examples: Fluttershy is a xenobiologist aboard a military starship, Twilight is a warp drive engineer, Rainbow Dash is a special ops pilot for space battles...you get the point. Why sci-fi alternate universe? Because I want to write something that's 70% or so new and 30% already established (plus, I can expand or alter some things about the lore like how magic works and/or ties into the technological aspect of things, which would be cool).
But there I go, talking about an idea instead of writing it. Well, I wrote about 1000 words or so of it and then deleted it all because I don't yet have a concrete idea of what I want it to be about. Writing is hard when you're indecisive about everything.
