Brainstorming Session 2: Electric Boogaloo · 12:39am Apr 10th, 2021
I've been tinkering a bit with a Novel-esque story that's been in the works for quite a while, but have reached a bit of a writer's block with it. I keep editing what I have written instead of continuing the story, which I guess is good in its own way, but not so good as it pertains to eventually releasing the story for people to read. It's also a more serious one, so it requires a lot more patience and attention to detail on my part.
So I'm ignoring it! And I also have been wanting to write another lighthearted and/or heartwarming story, so I figured I'd do another one of these off-the-rails brainstorming blog posts and see what comes out of it. Here we go:
- A complete redo of Stars and Diamonds, an idea about Starlight Glimmer and Diamond Tiara bonding like the CMC do with Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity.
- Twilight hosts an evening with her friends to have them playtest a cooperative board game she designed, but the end result is the exact opposite.
- In a freak flying accident, Rainbow Dash violently crashes through Fluttershy's roof. I don't know why this came into my mind or why I'm including it, but there you go.
- Fluttershy's animal sanctuary gets an upgrade after she asks for Twilight's help in rescuing an endangered species, who uses magic to alter their genes so they'll be more fit for survival, and uh, life finds a way. This would be a pseudo-original idea but with obvious references to a certain movie franchise. Also Discord would make an appearance and say something about chaos theory.
- Rarity's model for her upcoming fashion show backs out at the last minute, and she needs somepony with the right color accent to wear her special dress and do the catwalk. Problem is though, she needs somepony that's a light shade of blue (Rainbow Dash, although Trixie would also work, which could be interesting to work into the story somehow).
- "How To Preen Your Princess: An Instruction Manual For Royal Canterlot Guards" -- Literally a book written for Canterlot guards to use the proper preening technique, because princesses don't have the time for doing it themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if someone has written something like this before, but I've not read them. Either way, it would be fun to write.
I'll stop there for now. Might add a few more later. Also I updated my profile picture and can say this one is probably gonna stay for a long while. Fluttershy is obviously my favorite at this point, and she's literally writing a book. It was meant to be.
Enjoy your weekend
Okay, I started writing #6 on a whim and it's definitely shaping up to be a winner already lol. I'm glad I made this blog post. I've never written fanfiction that reads like technical documentation before, and it's surprisingly fun.
And...it's done lol. Pretty much, at least. Expect a short one-shot sometime tomorrow.
