I enjoyed participating in Jinglemas, probably because I drew characters that I was able to write a not-horrible story with. (I saw the combinations other authors received. I don't know what I would have done with some of those.)
I'm posting this to encourage you, if you haven't done so yet, to check out the story that was written for me for Jinglemas: "I'm Peachy!" by TCC56.
When I watched the episode "A Flurry of Emotions," I was intrigued by the filly who managed to maintain a cheerful attitude despite having horsey hives. I thought to myself, "I want to learn more about this character, but my cynical self is incapable of coming up with a story." Which made her a perfect character for me to request for Jinglemas.
Because I'm not a complete monster, when I made my Jinglemas request, I gave my Secret Santa a choice: They could write a story either about Peach Fuzz or about two established, canonical characters that I would enjoy reading a story about (no, it wasn't Lyra and Bon Bon). If I wasn't sure what a story about Peach Fuzz would entail, I certainly couldn't "force" someone else to do it for me.
But TCC56 accepted the challenge and created exactly what I was hoping for. If you like slice-of-life stories that acknowledge the hardships of life while realistically celebrating the benefits of positivity in the face of those hardships (I know I do -- it's like this story was written for me!), then go read "I'm Peachy!"
While I'm here: Does anybody know how the upvote/downvote counters on stories work? I immediately clicked the thumbs-up icon on "I'm Peachy!" after I read it, but the story has yet to display its total tally of votes. The thumb is green, but the bar remains gray. I know the process isn't instantaneous, but three days is a little excessive.
Out of curiosity, I checked the site when I wasn't logged in. Not only did that story's up/down counter not show, but the counters on my two most recent stories don't show... even though when I'm logged in, I can see exactly how many upvotes and downvotes each of my stories has.
I guess my point is, I promise that I really did upvote the story that was written as a holiday present for me.
