Hands: Human Form Celestia · 8:00pm Nov 23rd, 2019

Celestia decides to give human form a try. She asks Shepherd for his opinion

Celestia: "So, how do I look? Did I do it right?" beams

Shepherd: *blush* "Er... It's very good. Extremely good, actually. How do you feel?"

Celestia: "Different... But good." *She studied her hands thoughtfully* "... I can see why inventing fire was so important for you as a species."

Shepherd: "What do you mean?"

Celestia: "... You're so small. And frail. And there's so much inside you, and a gigantic, terrifying world that wants to take it from you. To take away your very life. Fire was the only thing that chased away the darkness."

Shepherd: "Well... It's definitely up there for us. But without friendship? Humanity would have been doomed. Just as doomed as you would be without it."

Celestia: *smiles warmly* "Yes... I see that now. If you would..."

Shepherd: "Hm?"

Celestia: *Holds out her hand*

Shepherd: "..." *He takes her hand in his. Celestia blushes*

Celestia: "Oh my... This... Are you sure you should be doing this with me? It feels so good... So intimate..."

Shepherd: *blush* "Errr..."

I need an adult.

:trollestia: I am an adult.

GAH!

In my story, Friends With Benefits, the main character, Steve, explains to his herdmates why humans, especially him, wear so many clothes. Besides the fact that human skin is relatively thin compared to most equines and lacks a fur coating, Steve also explains his psychological need for raiment. (Dude is very heavy for a human; has considerable body image issues to deal with.) Haven't gotten to fire building yet, then, Steve hasn't learned how to properly transmogrification. Yet… Still, good point about one of the keystones of human civilization. :yay:

Blasted hand holding degenerates!!! So much filthy lewdness!!

I must have MORE!!!!:raritydespair::trollestia:

Hey! You never mentioned these posts would have explicit hand-on-hand action! My eyes! My innocent eyes!

The invention of fire was more important to human development through the advent of cooking.
Cooked meat and veggies accelerated brain development both through increased protein intake and the skull and jaw adapting to softer fare than super tough or fibrous materials.

As far as defense against predators goes, depth perception and standing upright for a higher vantage point and figuring out how to heft a tool were just as important as having a fire. And prodigious breeding to replace the ones predators did get and repopulate after catastrophes like Lake Toba helped. I don't get why so much effort is being spent keeping Pandas alive. Humans wrecking their habitats makes us partially responsible, but even so, being reliant on a single food source and being reluctant to breed is no way for a species to endure. That's squarely on them.

Aww yiss.
Though Luna is still my fave.

I wonder sometimes why so many of these stories focus on Celly, lovely as she is. Poor Luna; and besides, isn't the night and moon supposed to be more romantic anyway?

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that’s best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes;

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

People have noted, specifically in the context of Equestria Girls, that hands are ridiculously more sensitive than hooves. Even more specifically, in the context of Flashlight shipping and how the fundamentally shallow portrayal in the original movie makes perfect sense. Add in the teenage hormones that she was having to deal with again out of nowhere, and...
