Indeed. We humans are hunter gatherers, and so are griffons in my book. And besides, ponies can't shoot guns, no matter how high on magic you are!

It seems headed in a different direction than most stories. Plus, it's neat when the human gets turned into a griffin rather than a pony. Sociologically speaking, humans are more like griffins than ponies.
