Bad Dragon

I write so that one day I may finally stop writing and be free, but these damn new ideas keep finding ways into my brain. I need to write more to vent them out!

The first paragraphs of my stories · 12:09am Feb 9th, 2019

The first few sentences are very important. They can spell the difference between the reader getting hooked and the reading closing the tab, never to come back to it. I'm hoping some of these will hook you.

Here are introductions from my stories arranged from the most to the least favorite ones:

“Yes, spirits, I can hear your voices in my head!” Xerath softly croaked. “I’ve no time for useless wrath; or will you show me a plentiful path?” Spittle flew from the zebra’s muzzle while she rhymed. She swayed to the next bush and sighed at the bothersome conversation picking up in her mind. “You promise to help me, but it’s always a trap!”

Gasping, I threw myself against the door of our club. It opened with a loud bang. I started yelling before I even hit the floor of our tree house, “Tentacle ponies are coming!”

“No! Please, I beg you! I’ll do anything, just don’t—”

Silence.

Another filly sacrificed.

“Twilight!” Spike climbed on the sweat-soaked sheets and shook the sleeping pony. “Twilight! Wake up!”

“Ugh!” The princess wearily opened her eyes. “Huh, who turned up the heat?” She folded a wing and fanned her sweaty muzzle. “I dreamed of Luna, screaming at me to prepare for danger. The world was burning and so was she. It felt way too real...”

“That’s just it, Twi…”

“I don’t think this is a good idea, Twilight,” Spike commented from his spot on the alicorn’s back as he gazed upon the path under the arching high cliff.

Twilight Sparkle rolled her eyes. “But it’ll save us approximately thirteen to fifteen minutes of travel time with a margin of error of up to two minutes, due to slowing down to reason with you about which direction to take.”

I glanced around the perimeter but detected no imminent threats. Even though the coast seemed clear, I knew danger could lurk in any corner of the reception hall and an invasion from exterior of the imperial palace take place at any moment. The flock of birds outside haven’t noticed me due to lighting difference, but I kept my eyes on them.

Apples. I remember there were so many apples. The topless train cart was full of them, and I lay on the crest of the pile.

My body was covered in scratches and my chest hurt every time I inhaled. I felt angry and sad at the same time. I must’ve been in a fight, yet I couldn’t remember it. In fact, I couldn’t remember anything at all.

I could sense it. The base-plane where subjectivity ceases to exist and the truth reveals itself. It felt as if I could almost reach it.

Out of those, I'd say 'My Friend Tenty' has the most interesting start! :V
