MrNumbers, as I’m sure you know, is a fantastic author and blogpost writer. He’s recently written up a blog about how he feels the state of fimfiction’s erotica/clopfic scene is actively leading to us getting lower quality porn, in addition to fostering an environment that drives away female authors and readership.
Now quite clearly this is a contentious topic, and feel free to voice your dissent in the comments (do try and keep it civil, and I’m certain the irony of me asking that isn’t lost on most of you), but it’s something that’s been squatting on my mind for years now. A close friend of mine left the fandom in 2014/2015 for the exact reasons that are stated in the blog, and the social justice aspect aside, addressing the issues attended to in MrNumbers’ post will lead to us all getting higher quality clop. I’m certain that’s something even the most centrist of chads will agree is an excellent outcome.
What’s really saddened me, although it comes as no surprise, is the amount of people who actively and seemingly gleefully prove Numbers’ point about there being a misogynistic or sexist undercurrent to a lot of these stories. Not only that, but the responses in attempt to defend these undercurrents overwhelmingly present the idea that listening to how people who feel misrepresented and uncomfortable with the portrayal of their identity is “pandering” or “condescending” to women, who in addition should be “fighting their own battles”.
It’s just a lot of convenient excuses not to change or do anything. I get it. It’s nice being comfortable. But it’s also very disappointing and somewhat exhausting to see people actively prove a negative point about themselves.

I Skimmed through their blog and I'm sorry but it just seems like they don't understand the difference between reality and fantasy to me, and want censorship based on other people's feelings who also don't understand the difference between fantasy and reality, and Regidar you know very well of some of the dark stuff I get off to, and don't wish any of that stuff on anyone, I fail to see how removing some of the stuff they're criticising from porn would improve it in any way, and regarding women leaving.... soooooo? This fan group started despite demographics not because of them.
Maybe I'm missing the point of this entirely, but I really don't see how railroading how things are written will in any way make them better, In the same way that I don't see how removing steak from the menu makes the menu better, Sure the fish is better but don't you wish you could have some stake for a change
