Trials of a Necromantic Equestria is back!

Yup, that's right! From now on, I will be working solely on this reboot of an old classic on my channel here. There will be reboots and side stories galore, further exploring the world of Trials. There will be many differences from the original, and I apologize in advance if things you enjoyed from it were cut. I will not be taking the original down.

    Artist call

Hello everypony/one/ling/creature! I hope you all are doing great. :) I am putting out a call for any interested artists who might like to work with us to do art for the Starbound Revival universe. Ship designs, background portraits, maps, symbols, etc. I am open to paying, of course, and your work will be added to the story. I hope to, within the year, get a site set up to showcase this art,

    A bit of tweaking!

Just a quick update! I am tweaking with Starbound- nothing big, just starship numbers and scale in the first few chapters.

    Stuff is going on.

Hi everyone. To start, no, I'm not going on hiatus. However, a crucial part of my creative team is in the hospital right now. Pray to whomever you worship, or just send good vibes, please. He's a good friend, and I worry for him.

Questions for A Starbound Revival · 11:39am Sep 5th, 2018

Hello everyone! I am so glad to see you all again! As you can tell, I've gotten back to writing, and recently uploaded to A Starbound Revival and Roomies of the Night. And I thought it might be a good idea to open up to some questions! I'm here to answer any world-building questions for either story-world, and will answer limited questions about the future of their plots.

Hi, nice of you to be willing to answer our questions. I have a few related to your interpretations of the pony tribal cultures since that's my favorite thing about these stories.

Roomies of the Night: 1) what kind of social prejudice do the batponies/thestrals face and 2) what's the story behind the Herd Movement, the Unicorn nobles dislike of it and Princess Luna support?

Starbound Revival: are we going to see in depth information on the cultures of the non-pony inhabitants of Equus?

Kind of curious about Pinkie Pie. Last we saw her she was hurt then the story went off into a different direction. Rarity also gets a quick and you miss it cameo even though we met her pen pal early in the story.

Not a question but a thank you
Looking forward to reading the next chapters

4931726 Excellent questions! Alright, starting with Roomies. Batponies are a race that took the banishment of Luna very hard, and broke into two halves: the Thestral Rookeries, and Batpony Traveller Bands. Rookeries are intensely insular colonies with a strong social class system, and Travellers are a Ponyism of Gypsy Bands, with all the usual prejudices: they are looked at as thieves, heretics, swindlers, etc. As such, most batponies will be looked at as a Gypsy, hence the secretaries treatment of Nightsong as a "tinker," or junk-peddler.

For your second question: The Herd Movement is a reaction to Luna's return, and is a kind of social renaissance akin to the modern-day Gay Pride movement. The Night Court was the cultural hub of Equestria during the diarchal rule, during which herds were common among pegasi, earth pony, and lower-class unicorns. With Luna's banishment, however, the Unicorn Nobles took direct control where the Night Court left off, injecting their own culture into Equestria's mix and trying to enforce it. By this time in Equestrian history, herds are far less common, and actively persecuted in modernized towns and unicorn-led cities. Modern-day Luna has support however amongst the traditionalists among the Pegasi and Earth Ponies, the Batpony Travellers, and some among the more radical unicorns.

As for your Revival question, we will have many small looks into other races- I am planning a few sub-plots for Changelings, and possibly the Diamond Dogs.

Thank you so much for the questions!

Pinkie Pie and Rarity are going to have their own sub-arcs as we get into the rebuilding and defense phase; they will get their own humans and even a little romance!

Thank you so much for the questions!

Thank you for answering, this was all very interesting. So, the travelling batponies are the Gypsies (Romani) of pony kind and the Herd Movement was an old cultural thing that was being oppressed but has been revived by Luna's return. Can you tell me more about the unicorn nobility and why they tried to crush herds?

4931742
The Unicorn Nobility are House-based. The more powerful among them use their influence and economic power to control Equestria behind the scenes. They are also very patriarchal, and diametrically opposed to the old matriarchal systems. In contrast to human systems, this is tradionalism vs modernism, with the modern systems being far more oppressive. This is not to say that all noble houses are oppressive- House Sparkle will have a role to play, and I hope to show them and the Night Court more.

This is a pretty neat idea. I might have to try it if any of my stories ever get enough of a following.

Starbound Revival: What powers the powered personal armor? I can only imagine how much energy would be needed to power something like that. Also, was there any threat of war between Terran and Equestria before the invasion?

4931744
Ah, I see. I'm eager to see them as well.

4931755
I'm not a science major, but I was thinking an advanced sort of solid state battery. Lithium, possibly. And definitely not, no. They couldn't pass through the portal at first, so things were down to simple trade of materials and technology.

4931778
In that case were there any dangers of potentially dangerous items crossing over during trading? I can only imagine how religious fanatics would find ways of hiding bombs to send to Equestria.

4931791
Possibly, though I think that will become more of an issue now that ships can pass through with crews.

Starbound revivaI: assume the fight with the seraphim is not over mankind may have won round 1 but I would imagine that the war is not over as the seraphim are regrouping for round two. With that out of the way I look forward to the world building and mankinds interaction with it.

4931794
Oh the war is definitely not over; for the ponies or humanity.

4931792
Wait...does that mean we might see an arc about a rogue ship or a group of terrorists that snuck on board one of the ships? Maybe even Seraph sympathizers?

4931795
Alright good to know here is hoping the land outside equestria are explored too I love those moments from the series and movies and look forward to it here since the races of the world now have to unify against a common enemy. Also would like to know if the other nations of earth and other human nations outside of earth will be given more detail, anyway that all I have to ask for now just keep up the great work and excited to see you back!

You've stated that human ships have FTL drives; are extrasolar colonies ever going to factor in? Do they even exist at all, or is your Republic focused entirely on settling the Sol system at the time the story takes place?

4931907
There is a small research colony in the Centauri trinary system! ^__^

4932143
that’s pretty neat
