Thoughts and Ideas: The Mean Six · 7:10pm Jun 9th, 2018
So, in light of the latest episode, The Mean Six, a couple things come to mind.
One: a possible explanation to the existence of timber wolves. As demonstrated, the spell worked to create the clones out of wood. Spells, especially something complicated like that, normally needs large amounts of experimentation and fine tuning. So, it's possible that the attempts to create the spell created the timberwolves as we know them. Additionally, it was a complicated spell, with a large amount of energy put into it. I'm betting some of that residual energy remains in the rest of the wood from the tree. This in turn could be used to create new timber wolves.
Random thought: or maybe even the wood itself? Imagine if the mane six wound up facing evil timber wolf versions of themselves. Possible story there.
Two: evil Twilight. I really liked this character. One of the funnest things about her was how snarky and rude she was to Queen Chrysalis. I think this might have been a consequence of the personality switch. We saw with all six that parts of their personalities were reversed, mostly with how they tied to their elements. I don't think it was limited to just that, however, and evil Twilight demonstrates it. Regular Twilight has always looked up to Princess Celestia. Even in recent times, while she is starting to think of Celestia more as a pony, she still idolizes her and wants her to make her proud. Twilight still wants nothing more than to impress her former mentor, and isn't really able to go against her.
So, what's the opposite of that? A pony who looks down on her "leader," questions everything, backtalks, and plans to usurp the leader for her own power.
Third: The Tree of Harmony. Did it know that the mean six were impostors? That they were not actual ponies, but a simulacrums created by magic? Because if not, that has some pretty dark implications. I mean, imagine if it did that to other treasure hunters, or creatures that were not worthy? Or even the bearers themselves?
So, Starscream.
It was an interesting twist having an episode with a villain as the POV character. Made her seem a little more down-to-earth than she’s been portrayed. And even for Chryssy, that little prance going from one tree to another was just adorable. In the end I actually felt a tiny bit of sympathy. Poor Chryssy just can’t catch a break it seems.
I believe because of the mean six, that when a new evil comes and the main six go for the elements, they don't respond. Instead the six new students will needs to take up the mantles.

That is a possibility. And if not, an entertaining story someone could write.
I don't think it's a coincidence that they at no point realized that they were under attack. An aspect of that is that the resolution didn't involve establishing guilt, or who said and did what. They just realized that none of it mattered, and that they were friends regardless.
I'm just disappointed they didn't use the Mean Six from CRISIS: Equestria.
