    It Can't Be Just Me

I still go to Derpibooru. I know some people have stopped, or at least stop having their art there, but it is still the most convenient way to see most mlp art (and not having to create an account for every art site under the sun). I also live out in the country, so there are many times when my internet can be spotty. There are times when I will be in the middle of something, and it will slow,

Still Getting Attention For Some Reason

So, it has been over a year since I last posted or updated a story (August 2021), and almost a year since I announced i was giving up on continuing any stories here. Yet, somehow, I am still getting notifications that people are liking my stories, and even occasionally getting new followers.

I'm kind of curious as to why?

    Giving Up

Well, I'm admitting defeat. The stories that I have here but have not finished are now officially cancelled. After all this time, it seems unlikely that I will be continuing to work on them. Sorry to those who were hoping that they would keep going, but hopefully you understand.

    MLP, D&D, and breath weapons

Something I was thinking about the other day.

In the show, we have dragons of numerous colors, but they all breathe fire. Some of them are of different colors, but it is fire all the same.

It Can't Be Just Me · 12:12am April 24th

I still go to Derpibooru. I know some people have stopped, or at least stop having their art there, but it is still the most convenient way to see most mlp art (and not having to create an account for every art site under the sun). I also live out in the country, so there are many times when my internet can be spotty. There are times when I will be in the middle of something, and it will slow, or even just stop working. Usually it is only for a few minutes, but it can be for an hour or two. And that does not include when the weather is bad and knocks it out or something.

That said, even taking that into account, there seems to be something wrong with Derpi. There are times when even when my connection is working fine, images won't load. Neither an image I click on to see, nor the thumbnails on the main pages. It just stops, acting like it is loading for minutes on end, but with nothing happening. Some times several thumbnails will load, but then it will stop. Not as in I get a broken link or image notice, but it will just be blank as the loading indicator continues. Then after however long, it just continues on, loading everything like nothing happened.

I am writing this as it took ten minutes or so to load a page and and image i was checking.

Like I said, this cannot just be on my connection, because I will have this happening while other pages and site work fine. Going back a page does nothing, as it will just load up to the same point. Stopping the page and clicking reload does nothing either, as it does the same thing.

This as to be something going on with them. I am not the only experiencing this, am i?

I do get this now and again, but it often is on my end. And a refresh generally clears out the lag within seconds.

This reminds me of the trouble I had years ago with a ~1 Mbps connection and CloudFlare-fronted sites using HTTP 2. Since it funnels all requests over a single connection, when that connection gets stalled, everything just stops until the connection times out and a new one is opened. The problem was mostly only noticeable with media-heavy sites like Derpibooru or large downloads.

With the old unpipelined HTTP 1.1 (which creates a connection per request) this problem was not nearly as bad, and a reload of the page usually fetched any missing image(s). So, disabling HTTP 2 in the browser made things much better.

These days (and with a much faster connection) HTTP 2 has been fine for me while HTTP 3 sometimes gets throttled down to ~500 kbps during peak times (about 13:00-20:00 UTC). Again, it only seems to affect CloudFlare and disabling HTTP 3 solves the problem.
