A Setting Of Suns · 5:47pm May 20th, 2018

I've been sitting on this one for over half a year, for extraneous reasons which I won't get into here. I went into some detail on the origins of this story, of a random PM sparking a notion, rather different from that tale that the requester asked for. Sorry about that, dragon whisper 243. This is my first attempt at a pure crossover, and it was something of a research stretch, mostly due to the challenges of working in a conlang like Dothraki. I hope the results amuse someone out there. I've got a number of chapters in the buffer, and I will be trying to work on this on a semi-regular basis.

Hopefully it won't go on for as long as In The Company Of Night did. :unsuresweetie:

Dude, In The Company Of Nigh is awesome, and of your stories that last as long as it will be awesome too. Well, I'll still read and favorite if it runs shorter, but then there'll be less of it therefore I'll be sadder. Just saying :pinkiesad2:

The chapters I've read so far have had great world building, and the Sunset POV is awesome. The tone reminds me of a PoE, mixed with Artemis Fowl, along with SI into fallout feel to the story.

Her ability to learn languages is freaky fast, but you hand waved it with the 'she's a genius' trope, which makes sense to me, as I think a fully chosen by Celestia would be extraordinary in this side. We see Twilight is super smart in the series, though she was chosen by fluke thanks to her cutie mark.

I personally love putting traditionally 'fluffy' fandoms with darker ones (such as MLP/WORM) but the make-it-or-break-it moment is the initial cross. It has to happen in a way that makes sense and doesn't feel contrived, and you've done that for me.

Now that you've set the scene of how Sunset ended up with the Dothraki, I do hope you think through the butterflies that will happen to the GOT. I just hope it doesn't end up being where nothing Sunset does changes canon, though I know early on, her impacts will be minimal in Westeros, but a talking unicorn should cause some ripples in the Essos stage.

Also, she knows dragons as other sapient beings capable of language and stuff. Interesting to see how she influences how those are raised...
