    Happy Pride, Everyone!!

Another June, another time for people to celebrate. But this isn't Pride Month. This is Pride Lifetime, Pride Existence that we're celebrating. Even when the corporations put away the rainbow flags and hollow sentiments, that doesn't mean you should pause your awareness, your support and your experience as well. Make every day colorful, fab and, above all else, full of love.

So yeah, Space Wars Day or whatever

Honestly I've been checked out on Star Wars for a long time: longer than before the new trilogy came around to sour it even further. I mean I technically still write Star Wars, though it's nothing that can be accepted by any ol' fan. For one thing, the Ssi-Ruuk are regularly represented, and another is that they're not presented as their original selves. Still a shame they're so under-utilized in

    Positive Vibes

So something curious has just happened: I just got done watching the South Park Post-Covid two part special, and it has put me in a very positive and hopeful mindset. Yeah: South Park of all things giving me the feel-goods. Like legitimate fuzzies about things working out.

Well Here We Go · 7:40pm Mar 27th, 2018

So I'm back, all sobered up and ready to get this clankety pony train rolling once more. I was gonna do more of an intro and maybe put up a snazzy title caption, but I had just watched the first forty seconds of the first episode and I have a more befitting title/reaction to kick things off, so here goes. *Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Breath*

HOLY F*#*ING MOTHER OF PORK THE MLP MOVIE IS ACTUALLY CANON HOLY FLUBBIN' S*%@ TEMPEST IS AN ACTUAL PRESENCE HOH MY GAWD MINDBLOWN INCONCEIVABLE 420 #YOLOSWAGNITE THIRD IMPACT KEEPS TUMBLING DOWN TUMBLING DOWN AEIOU AEIOU AEIOU JOHN MADDEN BORKENSTOCKS

Phew! Haven't reached the opening song and I'm already shook af. Right, gonna batten down and watch this thing uninterrupted. So here I go!

...

And I'm back. Okay, I wrote down my thoughts as prior, so let's organize them into my overall thoughts for this opener.

It's interesting that we're looking into the Equestrian education system properly for the very first time, and that this whole opener is a more low key domestic affair is a change of pace I'm alright with. Sure, it's not as exciting, but different avenues. Though in regards to Celestia's vote of confidence regarding Twilight: if anyone knows how to run a school... and HOW TO DODGE OHHHHHHHH GET REKT!!!

However, that aside, the whole formation of the school happened rather quickly. Is it really that fast to build such a large, intricate institution so quickly? What's the exact timespan? Why am I even questioning the flow of time in this crazy universe? It's about as transient as the Dark Souls' timeline. Anyway, inbound Parade of OC creatures HO! We got stoner buck, cool bird, Scoota-dragon, changeling, Yona (best yak), and Skystar on coffee. Aside from needlessly-excited hippogriff, I liked these new kids. I suppose they're gonna be the focus of a few episodes; dang shame if they're just here for only the two episodes this season. Though it would've been nice if we got some other foreign students to spice things up, like zebras, buffalo, minotaurs, even diamond dogs. How's that for race redemption: where are the flippin' diamond dogs? Only that one episode from back in season one is all we're gonna get? Come on, writers, so much untapped material you've left lying around for years. You don't have to rehash what's been hip these past few seasons. Get with it!

On the matter of races, let's talk about the most erroneous new face in this opener: Chancellor "Bigot Dickus" Neighsay. I mean, he started off fine enough, aside from the really stupid name. Had that whole The Brain voice to him, dressed like a warlock, has that ominous portal spell. But then here he goes spouting all these racist remarks not once, but TWICE, in front of (most) the major foreign dignitaries, and with Celestia being in CLEAR VIEW for the second one. Like, Celly, hon? You don't want war to happen, so why are you letting this curmudgeon try to incite a race war? I'm absolutely positive he's going well beyond his boundaries at that point. And then you let him get away without raising any sort of reprimand. Sigh, she's as bad at handling members of her own government as she is at WARDING OFF THE WEATHER HOLY S*** JUST F*** MY LIFE.

Moving on, moving on. A few more notes here: Starlight earning her keep by being an advisor and keeping Twilight's focus intact without going out and fixing everything. I like that approach. Real cool of them to include the Krites from the Critters franchise, certainly wasn't expecting them to ever show up in this universe. And Reading Rainbow Dash is still prejudiced against eggheads. Yep, that's still a thing.

That's about it. Alright opener, nothing to make me hyped (aside from those opening seconds). Might I watch more episodes besides the finale? Perhaps if the blurb for it is intriguing enough. Other than that, I'll leave it as it stands. Although I do wonder what happened to Starswirl and the rest of those living legends. Their busts were up in the school, but they didn't even bother to show up to say hi? You'd figured that bearded geezer would love to see so many young eager minds (or s*** himself at seeing all the creatures running about. Oh my, I do wonder what his stance on other races is, hmhm).

Till next time, all the best.

A lot more people seem to have missed the whole "show staff said the movie was canon" announcement than I would have thought. c.c Maybe I just follow things more closely, but I keep seeing this.

Yep. I really don't keep in the loop on these things, so no big surprise over my big surprise :P
