Background Pony: Physical Print Project · 5:14pm Sep 8th, 2017

Dearest Wonderfolk,

Those of you who are interested in owning a physical print of shortskirtsandexplosions' masterful epic Background Pony, please take a moment to consider Fimfiction user Avonder's truly astounding project.

This is one of my all-time favorite Background Pony fanart pieces. It's also the inspiration for the print's cover.

As many of you know, I adore Background Pony. I've written extensively about my love for the story. I know that there are those who dislike it for a variety of reasons, but to me it was and has continued to be a monumentally important story that reshaped the way I live and the way I think. It is meaningful to me in ways no other literature, or any other media in general, has ever been. Background Pony affects me emotionally, intellectually, morally, philosophically, and personally. It has deepened my relationships and guided me through some of my life's most difficult moments. I am eternally grateful for its existence, and to its creator.

I would love to answer specific questions about my affinity for Background Pony, if any have crossed your mind. In the meantime, allow me to present the most promising printing project for this story that I have seen in the five years since I fell in love with it.

The first thing to know is that this print is expensive. Background Pony is nothing less than gargantuan: at well over 400,000 words, the document has been split into two tomes, each 550 pages long. There are two prints: a black and white version, in which the famous colored text is represented in differing fonts, and the fully colored version, which is considerably more expensive.

B/W: $92
Color: $146

There is no pretending that these prices aren't hefty. I understand that many of us are young, and even more of us are poor. In no way am I attempting to convince you to purchase a copy of Background Pony if it's not something you want.

I would guess, however, that there are those among you who, like me, have a special connection to this story. As strange as it sounds, I want the tomes of Background Pony to sit on my shelf one day, available to any and all who want to read something that means so much to me in such an accessible medium. Avonder's hard work on these prints has already inspired a stirring show of support, and I am proud to extend the fruits of his efforts to everyone reading this blog.

Visit the Background Pony Print project's Indiegogo page to read more about the details of the project and peruse the available packages. If it tugs at your heartstrings, please consider purchasing a copy. I know, at least, that I will not regret it.

All that is certain is the choice to be certain,
Ponky

That's so expensive :raritycry:

Would almost certainly get it for $50 each

Haw! He said he had a special person making a blog!

I expected the man himself, boy do I feel silly now.

Also already dropped for a color one.

I confess BP is not a story I've read or plan to, but i'm always overjoyed to see folks succeeding in their goals. I wish the project luck and well wishes.

I'm putting the money I'd saved for a Sherbet plush into this instead.

Hey, not all of us are young and poor. Some of us are old and poor!

That being said, I absolutely love BP and jumped on this bandwagon as soon as I heard about it.

I have a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter, I'll happily live on that for a week or so if it means I get to have a copy of BP forever!

I'm in for a color version.

My copies arrived, and they're perfect. The flecks of gold in the cover, the heft of them, the fact that the page numbers stop appearing near the end... These prints were made with love, and I'm still riding the wave of excitement I felt when the package first arrived.

No regrets jumping on this bandwagon.
