On Birthdays and Windows · 7:41am Apr 16th, 2017
Just thought I'd catch everyone up on the events of the last couple days.
First off, Tuesday night, while I was in the back room of my apt, working, I heard a loud crash. It took me a couple minutes to be able to go investigate, and when I did, I found someone had broken my kitchen window.
My neighbor had just gotten outside as well, and he called the police while I called emergency maintenance. Looking at the picture, it should be pretty obvious that someone was trying to break into my apartment, since the hole is at the right spot to get at the lock on the inside of my window frame to open the window.
We think whoever it was was frightened off by both me and my neighbor coming to investigate quickly. That window's actually pretty much right next to both of our front doors. We might have even seen who did it, as this guy came from nearby claiming to have been robbed at the 7-11... which was in the opposite direction from where he came.
I put cardboard up over it temporarily. It took until Thursday to get the window repaired, but it's taken care of now, at least. I'm finding myself leaving the light on in the kitchen a lot to try to make sure people know there is someone home, though.
The other side of this was the wonderful timing. You see, Friday was my birthday, so this all happened right as I was going into a four day weekend for that. Ah well, I've been doing my best to enjoy it anyways, and I had fun watching the new episodes.
I also drew this a few days ago, and while a lot of what I draw, I'm not that happy with, and this does have a few issues, I like how it turned out.
Anyways, just thought I'd catch everyone up on recent events...
Sorry to hear that. Hope the thief isn't stupid enough to come by for round 2 (or maybe hopefully they should so you can catch them and get them arrested).

I'm certainly hoping they don't, as the odds are I'll be home the second time as well, and if I'm not, I wouldn't be surprised if my neighbor was. I'm not going to have to pay for the window this time, but I don't want to count on that being the case for the future.
I'd also worry that they'd try my bedroom window next time, and if that one got smashed, the glass would go straight onto my bed and pillow. If I was in it at the time, that could be pretty bad.
I've just pretty much been trying to enjoy my birthday weekend regardless, though.

A belated happy birthday to you, then!
As for the burglar, I know it's not much, but I'll say some prayers. Cthulhu is always hungry...

Thanks!
It did strike me that while the window was broken, the thief got scared off pretty quickly, nothing was stolen, and nothing else was damaged. One of the closest things to that window, besides a rice maker and blender, was actually a small figure of Lord Ganesh, a fairly friendly elephant god of my acquaintance...

Geeez! Glad you're okay, and that they got frightened off.
