    Fantasy Novels

Many of the comments to my previous blog entry were asking if there was any way of acquiring the fantasy books I mentioned. As I said, my goal is to get an agent and then a book deal, so at this time I've decided against self-publishing.

    August Update

Hello! It's been some time. I suppose I should keep everyone abreast of the latest goings-on in my life, which, alas, include no MLP fanfiction.

    New Stories Possible

Dusting off the cobwebs here. It's been a while, hasn't it? I've been writing original fiction most of this time--that, and going to graduate school. Even as we speak I'm working on a fantasy novel, which is the second in a series I've been writing.

    Update For My Friends

    Hello everyone!

I realize I've been terribly quiet for some time now, and that the 'sequel short story' I was writing for Besides the Will of Evil never really materialized. For anyone who was anticipating it, I very much apologize.

    Calling Mapmakers

It occurs to me that one of the things Ardo Roccolato has been missing is a map--a way to locate the various countries of my world in their relations to each other. Does anyone know of any good fandom mapmakers? I'm willing to commission someone. I'd just like a visual depiction of the various lands I've written about--Equestria, Gildedale, the Crystal Empire, the Shimmerwood, Issidonia,

Dusting off the cobwebs here. It's been a while, hasn't it? I've been writing original fiction most of this time--that, and going to graduate school. Even as we speak I'm working on a fantasy novel, which is the second in a series I've been writing.

One of the major reasons for my lack of output, though, is that in the aftermath of Besides the Will of Evil I wasn't sure I had any more fanfics in me. I had half-baked ideas of writing a follow-up short story, in the same vein as "A Day for Spike and Twilight" following up It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door. Beyond that, though, I didn't think I had any more stories to tell in my own peculiar version of Equestria. There's also a question of expectations. How do you top BTWOE, which literally bends the fabric of time and space?

But lately I've begun to wonder if there isn't another story worth telling after all. I still don't think BTWOE can be topped, but maybe topping that story isn't what's in the cards. It might be worth it to write a different sort of story: a quieter story, a subtler story, a story about inner troubles rather than an outward enemy. Because it occurs to me that, in the aftermath of the huge upheaval caused by Reiziger, things might not settle back down as quietly and perfectly as the ending of BTWOE would imply.

We'll see. I'm still ruminating on it. But there's a chance, now, where there wasn't one before. Stay tuned.

Wow it feels like a lot of my favorite fic writers are coming back and thinking of putting pen to paper again! I'm excited to see what you do!

(Also have you linked your original fiction here yet? Is it something we can buy?)

Have you thought about doing shorter tales instead of longer quests?

I think trying to one-up BtWoE would be a recipe for disappointment; as you say, there's not a lot of room for bigger, badder, and more explosions-er, and you don't want to turn your story into a parody of itself.

I'd love to see you take on something with a more personal scope, whether that took the form of a one-shot or a longer fic. I agree that there's a lot of room for that kind of tale in the aftermath of Reiziger's defeat!

Good to see you around! And make sure to promote your novels here will ya?

I'll be interested to see what comes if you get bitten by the bug again. In the meantime, how about a link to the novel?

Sounds interesting.

Good golly, I never expected to see you once more return (I can only imagine what your notification menu must look like). Well, welcome back. I guess it's time to go back through your tales again, isn't it?

Thank you for the notice! :)

It doesn't have to be big. It doesn't have to have high stakes. You created a fascinating world, and I will consume with eagerness anything that adds just a little more lore to it. Specially things that one would miss when the scope is big.

If you feel you cannot top BTWOE, why not make a new verse so it isnt a problem?

Would always love to read more of your writing, both here and original.
