Exciting Mantles Update for Wonderfolk Who Read Mantles · 1:29am Mar 4th, 2017
Hello Wonderfolk that read Mantles, and also all other Wonderfolk dropping by. Good to be with you.
My new job allows for a lot of free time. In that free time, I have been able to crank out stuff for Mantles in a way I haven't been able to write since 2012. It's been exhilarating, delightful, and very satisfying. I've finally written out scenes that have been rattling in my head for almost five years. Great feeling.
As has happened before, I went back to the earlier chapters of Mantles and did some adjustment. As some of you know, Mantles was once a very different story. Since its conception, I've always wanted Apple Bloom to dress up like Mare Do Well, haunted by Pinkie Pie's death, take down some bad guys in Canterlot, inspire vigilantes in other cities, and then they all team up Avengers-style at the end to confront Princess Sparkle of the Dusk.
Well, none of that ever changed, but weird BackgroundPony!Lyra cameos were changed into an original take on Lyra, Cadance was entirely removed from the Alternate Universe, and now—the latest and greatest of my tweaks—Zecora is dead.
Zecora was never an important part of the story. As far as I can remember, at no point did she make a meaningful appearance. But there was a line in an early chapter that led the readers to believe that she was alive, if not frequently visited. Now, that line reads something as simple as "Ponyville hadn't been quite the same since Zecora died," with no real details except that she is, in fact, dead in the Mantles universe.
So there you go. Just thought I'd clear that up. Thank you so much for reading. You can expect weekly chapters from tomorrow until the end of the story. I'm very excited to share what I've written with you.

Also. At first I thought "huh, have you released a new chapter? ...and Zecora Dies in it?! Well THANKS for THAT Spoiler!! Oh... wait. So she's been dead all along and you weren't just spoiling your latest chapter. Okay, I didn't know that so thanks for the update. Doesn't really change the story much then I suppose."
Also, now that you have more time to write, do you think you'll continue writing more after Mantles are complete or are you done for good with writing horsewords then?
Man, I'm way behind. I read every update back in 2012, and loved them, but since the story started up again in 2015, I've been woefully neglecting it. Might be about time to start over and read it from the beginning again, especially if things have been changed.
