Did you know that one of the earliest pony fics I ever worked on was a noir detective story starring Spike? Yup, complete with private eye monologue-style narration. I never got even halfway finished with it, though I hope to someday finish it up. I've always loved that style, and always wanted to put out such a story.
Anyway, for some stupid reason, I drew the cover art before the story was finished. It's an old image, though, and I've gotten a lot better at drawing since then. If I ever finish the fic, I'll want to draw a new cover anyway, so I figured I might as well release the old cover. A bit of a blast from the past, this one, from late 2013.
This art looks a lot like the show. A story with a serious Spike like the one shown here, if written well, could be rather promising.
I want to tell Spike something like 'smoking is bad for your health', but I guess it can't be all that much worse than the smoke he normally breathes,
