Happy Total Defence Day! · 3:40pm Feb 15th, 2017
For some of my followers, you may not know what is total defence day. Total Defence Day is the day where the British Army surrendered Singapore to the Japanese during WW2. Lieutenant General Aurther E. Percival Surrendered Singapore on 15th February 1942 at around 6.20p.m. This was the most humiliating defeat for the British Army during WW2 where a total of (Approx) 90,000 troops fall to the hands of the Japanese. Another 30,000 troops fall to the Japanese in the Malaya campaign.

After WW2, Singapore commemorate this day as Total Defence Day. This year marks the 75 years after the humiliating defeat of the British Army in Singapore.
This becomes a wake up call for Singapore citizens that we cannot take peace for granted and that we must ourselves defend Singapore.
And this is one of the reason why Singapore becomes a independent state in 1965.
FYI: This was one of my inspiration for creating Ponies in war
This battle was mentioned in my story Ponies in war, go check that out when you can. Note: the story is in my own alternate universe, which means this battle will go in another direction, and not the same one as in our timeline.
That is all, General Sparky out.
Interesting piece of history. I did not know that.

4423399 Fun fact: The Japanese had 30,000 troops to attack Singapore while the British has 90,000 troops to defend Singapore. Thanks to Lieutenant General Yamashita, the Japanese managed to fool the British defenders and attack at their weak points. The Japanese captured most of the British's water supply by 15 February 1942 and that was one of the reasons why General Aurther E. Percival Surrendered Singapore on that day.
