A possible future anyway.
Been playing around with a few ideas on here to take the story of our former dragon sovereign now pony and I have a scenario that is promising.
I wrote some dialogue, more or less just to let it play out.
I really want to know what you think.
Brief set up: Flint is older an Adult and he has taken the role of a sort of protector of Ponyville. A battle had just taken place and Flint is speaking to somepony special to him, it may or may not be who you think....
“That was pretty lucky, Discord pulling you out like that.”
“....yeah.”
“....what if he didn't Flint?”
“.............”
“Applejack tells me that you admitted you couldn't beat him.”
“..........”
“Yet you went off and faced him anyway.”
“I am the element of courage, I should do no less.”
“Don't. You. Even. Call what you did courageous.”
“I saw what he was doing to ponies. It's my job to protect them from beasts like him.”
“YOU WERE PREPARED TO THROW YOUR LIFE AWAY!”
“I DID EVERYTHING TO PROTECT-”
“-YOU WOULD HAVE DIED FLINT!”
“.....”
“-AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR NOTHING!!!”
“......”
“That was not about you protecting me or the town. It was about you REFUSING to lose! Your own arrogant pride!”
“........”
“If Discord hadn't come in and saved you, you would be dead now. Leaving me, your family, our friends to grieve for you.”
“.....Things turned out fine.”
(she slaps him.)
“How...dare...you.” She says, trembling, tears streaming down her face. “Don't you have any idea what that would of done to them? What it would have done to me?!”
“....I….”
“....I can't...I can't be with someone who is so reckless with his life...who is so damn reckless with my heart.”
“....What are you saying?”
“.....were done….”
“.....you...you don't mean that…”
“....I'm sorry...but I do…”
“...no...no, don't...don't do this…”
“I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I have to go.”
“.....please….please don't go.”
“....goodbye Flint.”
“.....(her name).”
What you think?
Any guesses who he was talking to?

4345744 That was what I thought about my favorite character getting his future (Everett's Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics) heart broken.
Probably Applebloom. I first thought it would be a twist and he was talking to a little sister (that he may or may not get) but some of the dialogue would be weird if it was between siblings.
Meh. Probably Appul.
are you going to do a time skip or is this something way ahead on the story? doesn't seem to be applebloom she doesn't speak like that. also not a fan of extra elements, since unless really well done it usually sucks. almost all stuff i read here that tried that sank like a rock.
Could I suggest not doing the "7 element" thing? It's kind of overdone, "gary stu" kind of thing.
But if you do, you could have him getting some of his draconic powers back maybe? Some predator instincts or at least something of the sort.
Well, she speaks of Applejack. I'm gonna take a random guess and say that it's Applebloom. That seems to easy though. Could be dinky.

But seriously, I am thinking his special talent plus his history of combating various creatures would prove handy enough without flight or fire breath.
4345918 True those stories are rather hit and miss, mostly miss admittedly. To shoe horn a character into a prominent role is not often met well.
I don't claim to be better or even more clever but the more I think it the more I want to just run with it.
It's still a ways off. Gotta finish this Rebirth series first, for sure.

Well he was a powerfull dragon it would be nice if he had some of his dragon power.
But only if you arent going to make the element thing. He would become prime gary material.
