Review #11 - No Longer the Greatest, The Numbers Don't Lie · 11:42pm Dec 7th, 2016

Today I have another two stories to review, they are:

No Longer the Greatest by Rambling Writer
The Numbers Don't Lie by shortskirtsandexplosions

No Longer the Greatest by Rambling Writer
(Drama
It's been fifty years since Rainbow Dash first performed the rainboom, and she's slowly slipping over the hill. She's slowing down, sliding off her game. As the younger generation steps up, breaks her records, and makes rainbooms of their own, she contemplates her history in the world of speedsters and her importance to it.

Review
Rainbow Dash talks about the past and how her records were broken as she watches the Best Young Fliers Competition.

This story has fairly good pacing considering it's nature, which is to say different. It does, however, have some errors in the text, which is annoying if you see them for they are the kind that one's brain fill in automatically. It also feels very planned out and has only the necessary filler. It's tags could maybe use a "Sad," though it is not imperative.

Score: 8.5/10 Recommendation: Worth Reading.

Personal Thoughts: This is a great one-shot if you like that sort of thing, if you don't then I would still say to read it as it might change your mind.

(Slice of Life
When the Cutie Mark Crusaders dig up an ancient magical artifact, they unleash a spell on the town that allows everypony to see a "lie meter" floating above each other's heads. While attempting to solve the mystery, Twilight Sparkle has to analyze the tenuous balance between friendship and honesty. She doesn't like what she finds.

Review
The CMCs unearth a relic that causes numbers to appear over everyponies heads that counts lies told. Twilight stresses about how much everypony lies and thinks that honesty is the basis of friendship. Celestia comes and even she has a couple hundred numbers above her head. The spell is eventually reversed with only Twilight being at zero, and she learns a valuable lesson about friendship.

This story can feel long at times, but overall it has nice pacing. It has few errors in the text, which always makes a story better. The story also feels planned out, but not to the point of amazing as there is still some useless filler. Though the tag it has fits, I feel as though it is missing one, though I cannot figure out which to go with.

Score: 8/10 Recommendation: Worth Reading.

Personal Thoughts: This one is going in my Favorite of the favorites folder, as it is a good story. The only thing I have against it is that it feels a bit long.
