A little self conscious, I suppose. Hopefully putting these out will help with that.

Computer Blew Up! The Dreaded 'H' word! · 3:42am Sep 20th, 2012

Hiatus.

I hate that word.

It's a little unfair. The little guy is just trying to do a job- give us the sounds to identify meaning.

But I still hate that word.

That word means the blog I like might be going under, or I'll be seeing less of my favourite stories! The word 'hiatus' itself actually means a break or gap, which implies an ending. But that's so rarely what I see when I read that word. It always meant to me that something was going under and that I may as well just pull my follow/watch/whichever and console myself now (though I never did- back out, I mean). This is why I'm putting this here. There is something I need to say.

I AM STILL HERE.

Recently, my computer up and exploded. Can't even turn the damn thing on. Obviously, that's put a bit of a clamp on my writing processes. I was in the middle of a story, too! I'm getting this message out by way of a discrete computer located at an undisclosed location somewhere in the Alps- naw, I just borrowed a friend's. Unfortunately, even if I had all my notes, half-formed ideas, and half-written stories I still wouldn't be able to properly get them onto here. So my production is delayed until I can get my computer working again.

That's why I've been even quieter than usual. Hopefully I can get a working comp of my very own by next week, and a celebratory short along with it. By then I may have gone through one of the more harrowing tests of brony pride:

Before this week is done, some anonymous tech guy might see a word document on my computer detailing a half-finished piece of pony fanfiction.

Never let it be said I haven't suffered for this art...

That really sucks, but it's no effort to leave a "watch" button clicked. It's not like there's a finite amount of those. And I thought the harrowing test was going to a card shop and playing a modded version of D&D with mlp edits... But here's hoping they DO find the files, since, you know, it means the files were recoverable instead of needing a CPU wipe. (And don't forget you can use an Ubuntu install disk to grab files before a reformat if Windows is dead).

Also, just between us, and everyone listening, and anyone they wish to tell it to: yarny (dot) me.

Googledocs are cumbersome, though cloud storage is awesome. Yarny is a website dedicated to amateur writers requiring (free) cloud storage. It won't help the current stuff, but you never know for future. While we're on the topic of improving lives for the better, the firefox add-on Lazerus too. I tossed up a picture of Yarny below to show how it looks when filled with my fanfic's junk bits. Each tab on the sides is either a chapter on the left or the loose idea-bank on the right:

Interesting... I'll be giving those a look when I have a computer of my very own again.
