Twilight floated a second fritter up to her mouth when she realized the first was gone. “What is in these things?” “Mostly love. Love ‘n about three sticks of butter.”

Blast from the Past: Now 100% Less Likely to Get Me In Trouble

Hey, some of you guys remember that thing I did a long time ago, where I wrote up 50 questions about headcanon and suggested people answer them on their blogs, and then, like, everyone on the site wanted to do it, and then the site mods sent me nice but stern messages suggesting I cut that shit out because it was spamming people's feeds?

Wanderer D posted a touching retrospective of his time in fandom, and that made me remember the very first I ever heard of the show.

OMGOMGOMGOMG!

Just heard back from the publisher I sent my book to:

I think the book is very interesting and we would be interested in publishing it.

"I think the book is very interesting and we would be interested in publishing it."

Is this the part where you spread cigars to all your friends?

It's difficult to pass out cigars over the internet, or I totally would.

How about some new fanfic in the next day or so, instead? :ajsmug:

Thank you! Thank you all! You guys are all awesome, and I appreciate the support. I will keep this space updated with any future news.

This book has taken eleven and a half years, from the original idea to finishing it. During that time, it turned from high fantasy to AU noir, three of the characters did a face/heel turns, one character got cut (or at least pushed to the sequel), two characters fell in love, and I don't know how many times I changed my mind about magic powers.

Um, what I'm saying is just keep writing. You'll find a book in the mess that someone wants to read, eventually.

338205
Oloris Publishing. It's a small press, and I haven't even worked out the details yet so it's probably not safe to drop my name. Also, I would highly recommend you finish the book before you contact them, since most publishers won't even deal with a first time author who hasn't finished their book and your age would just add to their hesitance.

338432
It's set in an AU 1930's and, well, have a blurb!

The Elevati are normal people who are nearly immortal, with extraordinary powers that can bring humanity to its knees. Throughout history they ruled the world, enslaved mortals, and squabbled among themselves until they were nearly extinct. The last one was thought to be gone twenty six years ago. Now, in 1936, Pierside has three on the streets and none of them are exactly trustworthy. When all three go after the same thing, the only gun that can kill an Elevatus, bad things are bound to happen.

Caught up in this confusion are a simple clinic worker with a dark secret, a hillbilly girl with a short fuse and great aim, a beat cop who cares about the people the city would rather forget, a vigilante with a skewed sense of right and wrong, a politician's son with poor taste in women, and a nightclub singer with a mean streak a mile wide.

(Interesting notes: While it is about as far from pony fanfic as you can get, it's still actually about the magic of friendship. Go figure!

Also this book kept me from watching MLP for about six months, because I saw enough of MLP to worry that my hillbilly tomboy could be influenced by Applejack if I wasn't careful. I'm now sure that they're totally different characters, but I did come into fandom having written the southern accent for most of a novel already. :ajsmug:)

Nice man. Congratz and good luck.

338584 Thank you for posting this twice! I am sure you are quite excited :ajsmug:

338598 Holy shit, that sounds awesome! :yay:
What's the title?

338611
You're welcome! It's like a little present, who doesn't like more notifications? :pinkiehappy:

338615
Pierside, unless the publisher can come up with something better. I'd love something better but after a long time and eliminating a lot of more exciting titles, that was all I had.:twilightblush:

338629 Sounds good!
Elvati Pier(a title that came to mind, it doesn't sound too good :twilightsheepish:)

That would explain why your interpretation of Applejack seems so natural, hm. Besides, what stereotype young hillbilly girl ISN'T a rough l'il tomboy firecracker?

:ajsmug:

YAY!
go over the contract carefully...

Oh, with small press, order books they are publishing now, read them, see if you like them; contact the authors, talk to them, see if they're really angry about anything (like not getting paid).

338776
It's a noir style novel set on a version of earth with a similar but magical history, during the 1930's.

I often have trouble expressing the combination of 1930's era tech and society, an occasionally violent but mostly darkly emotional plot, and a magical element that's altered the history and political geography of the world. Attempt #43: Unsuccessful. :twilightsheepish:

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!

May I ask what publishing house and what book

338924
It's a small press, Oloris Publishing. And there's a short summery in the comments above, but it's called Pierside.

338776
Just caught the edit. Actually, the publisher is a subsidiary of a group called The Middle-earth Network, which my husband is involved with as a volunteer. He knows the publishing arm in passing, and some of the people he works with on his projects with have had books published through them and have good things to say, so I feel pretty confidant about them. They aren't a springboard to fame and fortune, but in terms of getting a book out there and marketing, they're pretty creative and professional.

Congratulations!

I am very happy for you. Truly.

It always makes me smile when others get what they deserve.

From what I have seen of your writing on here, I would be interested in this book of yours.

Well done! Do let us know when it hits shelves or gets turned into a movie. Cause that is whats going on with most books these days.
