Twilight floated a second fritter up to her mouth when she realized the first was gone. “What is in these things?” “Mostly love. Love ‘n about three sticks of butter.”

Blast from the Past: Now 100% Less Likely to Get Me In Trouble

Hey, some of you guys remember that thing I did a long time ago, where I wrote up 50 questions about headcanon and suggested people answer them on their blogs, and then, like, everyone on the site wanted to do it, and then the site mods sent me nice but stern messages suggesting I cut that shit out because it was spamming people's feeds?

    Full Circle

Wanderer D posted a touching retrospective of his time in fandom, and that made me remember the very first I ever heard of the show.

(Potential implied spoilers but maybe not? below.)

Blast from the Past: Now 100% Less Likely to Get Me In Trouble · 5:13am Oct 30th, 2019

Well, Latecomer took those questions and founded a group where you can answer them! Legally!

bookplayer's 50 Questions

We all know there's nothing you like more than avoiding writing answering random questions on the internet, so go join and talk about things you think!

I still say the mods are in the wrong there.

Oh wow, that was 2014? I could've sworn it was earlier.

In any case, I'll have to give the group a look. I loved seeing people's takes on the various topics.

I basically made one of my own 4 years after people stopped caring

I'm going to do one on my own blog. Because I'm a rebel. :trollestia:

It still doesn't make sense that the 50Questions blog posts were deleted. I want to know the reasoning behind that, because from then until now the only thing I can figure is that some admin who reads EVERYONE got tired of scrolling past the 50Q blog notifications and went ballistic, because every other website that is ad run would jizz their pants for the number of ad refreshes coming through everytime someone clicked on the next one.

The story is: people had started taking reshare/tag your friends memes from tumblr and facebook. This was annoying to many people, so they were banned, though a number slipped through the ban if they were being shared widly (if it was just one or two people.)

I posted my list as a kind of response to one of those that slipped through the ban (taking a random list of questions and making one that was on topic for the site.) My downfall was suggesting people do it on their own blogs. Since that was resharing or tagging, and against the rules, and it was to the point where you couldn't miss it, the mods kind of had to say something or risk the next chain letter kid saying "but bookplayer got to do it!"

No no no, my question is: why did the site admins care? If we banned things for being annoying, I would ban every single story written in second person, that mentions or is part of a wargame, and that ships Big Mac with anypony other than Caramel Apple(male), but everywhere I go on the internet today people say "just scroll on", so what really made the admins care in this case?

Initially, when they made the rule, it was the tagging. People were tagging people for memes and chain letters on their userpage, and I think in some circles it was approaching harassment.

But on a larger level, FiMfic has always been more heavily (and personally) modded than most open social media sites. It's really run more like a very big forum or message board, and most of those have rules about content and community standards.

Wow, that's even more recent than mine - I had probably already though of making the group.

Thanks! For both the promotion, and of course the inspiration!

I was checking through my gDoc files and went "The hell is this thing?" Then I opened it and found out the last time I edited it was April 2014.

Ah - so written back then but updated for now.

Hmm... I just had an idea for a new thread.

Well, I wrote like, up to number 10 before I got distracted, then proceeded to get distracted for 5 years.
