Story Promoting: Celestia Cannot Sleep · 2:14am Apr 22nd, 2016
Hey, guys! Have I got a story for you!
Like a fic. Not like, a personal anecdote. That sort of story.
And it's not really my story, so obviously understanding "got" in its most colloquial sense. Well, the broad colloquial sense, not the common "Have I got a story for you" meaning that I'm about to tell you the story. What I'm actually going to do is link you to the story and--
You know what? Let's try this again.
Hey guys! You know what's a really cool story you should read? Celestia Cannot Sleep, by my talented friend Lady Grey! Have you ever wondered about the immediate emotional fallout of Celestia banishing her sister to the moon? Do you like crying but find saline drops inconvenient? Well, wonder and be dry-eyed no longer, as Lady Gray digs into Celestia feeling like a terrible person (pony) and figures out how to live with herself at least enough that Equestria doesn't lose TWO princesses instead of one.
Full disclosure, finishing this fic after TWO YEARS of false starts and abandoned drafts was LG's birthday gift to me, and I would consider it a lovely gift from all of you if you'd go leave her some nice and insightful comments on the story. It was the first fic idea of hers we talked about together and it's basically responsible for her engaging with this site at all, so moreso than usual I'd like to see it get the attention it (IMO) deserves. Seeing it actually published (with cover art LG drew ALSO like 2+ years ago) is a major nostalgia trip for me, actually.
Oh, and LG also wrote a nifty blog post about the creative process of the story and its many delays here, which I would definitely consider worth a read after the story.
Anywya, that's it from me!
((And I know I said I was going to get back to Twilight Sparkle vs the ELA last year and it got away from me--sorry about that. I continue to be bad at working writing into my life here in Japan, and also I've been doing a semi-secret non-pony project which I may share with you guys at a more opportune time, but this post isn't about me so I'll leave it at that.))
