    Story Promoting: Celestia Cannot Sleep

Hey, guys! Have I got a story for you!

Like a fic. Not like, a personal anecdote. That sort of story.

And it's not really my story, so obviously understanding "got" in its most colloquial sense. Well, the broad colloquial sense, not the common "Have I got a story for you" meaning that I'm about to tell you the story. What I'm actually going to do is link you to the story and--

    The Travels of A Hat

So I guess I am going to San Diego Comic Con in about 10 days? Just for Sunday (7/27), but still. Any thoughts/suggestions/must see events or people anyone would like to suggest? I've been too intimidated to even look at the programming because I've been told that the only way to get into any panel is to line up several hours in advance. I should really change that. Oh, and for that matter,

Summer and the Curse of Chapter 2

No, that's not the title of my new middle-grade novel (although maybe it should be, it's kind of a great title).

Oh, and for that matter, anyone else going to be there?

Story status update: I've decided that part of my issue getting stuff written is jumping around between projects without seeing one thing through to completion. When I decided to finish TerrorSwans it only took a few weeks to do the necessary writing and editing despite having it cluttering up my head for almost 2 years.

Unfortunately, I have projects that need my attention more than ELA. In fact shortly after my last post about how I was going back to work on ELA I got handed a pretty cool writing opportunity that has/will absolutely consume a lot of time and energy if I'm going to do it well enough to actually take advantage of it AS an opportunity. I'm not scrapping my intention to update ELA by the end of the summer though, because I hope to knock out some of this stuff over the next few weeks (even though travel disrupts the heck out of me and I've just been out of town for a week and a half and then I'm leaving again and then back for like a week and then leaving AGAIN). However, I may need to borrow the literal definition of summer as ending in late September, not the "everyone goes back to school" end of summer.

Random poll while I'm on the topic: given the choice, would people rather wait longer for me to release chapter 3 of ELA and have chapter 4 be about ready to go (so going up within a week of 3), or have me release chapter 3 as soon as I'm satisfied with it and just not do that awful resting on my laurels crap I do with completed chapters (but probably be waiting a bit longer anyway)?

If there's one thing I've learned about going to cons (all second-hand, of course), bring a water bottle or two. You'll need it.

Mind letting us know what kind of opportunity this is? Like, "non-internet people will read this" kind of thing? I need to know how excited for you I should be.

Guess I'm the only one participating in your makeshift poll. :applejackconfused: I shall determine the results with a single cast!

Wait a while. Perfection shouldn't be rushed, and the tight interval between chapters 3-4 will make for an exciting period of story updates.

2293154 Hmmm, well, it's sort of complicated, and I don't want to reveal anything I shouldn't (or, for that matter, jinx myself). Basically I got asked to write a promotional script for an unfunded project that has some TV professionals interested which I was already helping on. I had hoped to get an introduction to a couple specific people involved ANYWAY, and this is like, now they will theoretically read my stuff without me having to ask. So I dunno, tepidly hopeful might be about right. A lot would have to go right, much of it outside of my control, for it to necessarily LEAD to anything directly, but it's possible, and if not, it might at least mean notes from a professional writer and maybe some sort of relationship that could be useful in the future.

But I'm not getting paid and the audience is limited barring the super-outcome where the project takes off and makes us all filthy stinking rich. Still, it's a chance to make an impression on some people, which is actually pretty important and not necessarily easy to come by.

I won't be at Comic Con, because I'm going to Bronycon, though it's not like I could make it to San Diego if wanted to. Good to hear you've gotten an opportunity. I hope it blossoms into something fruitful, but hey, sometimes just getting your name into someone's head will end up helping you out in the future.

I hate to admit this, but I haven't read ELA yet, :twilightblush: so it doesn't really matter to me which course you take. But I would suggest doing whatever makes your life easier. If getting 3 out of the way leaves less hanging over your head, then do that.
