I'm currently helping edit a Fallout Equestria story, when this idea popped into my head. I came up with to keep the writers story inline with the FoE Universe, but he steadfastly refuses to take any suggestions. So, here it is. The entire idea in point form. Mostly an introduction. Maybe you can squeeze two or three chapters out of it if you're a good writer. I'm offering this up on a first-come-fist-serve basis. If you want to use it, make your claim in the comments below!
- This uses the classic “living in the vault, but had to leave” story that the games use and some other FoE stories use.
- Like all Stables, Ponies are the main resident. Being built so close to the Badlands Changelings were quick to discover and infiltrate it long before it closed.
- The Changeling Queen took over position as Overmare.
- Changelings hold all positions of power and authority, including Stable security.
- Ponies are second class citizens, disposable labor workers, are often timid, and are essentially breeding stock and cattle. There are many young ponies in the Stable to keep pony populations balanced.
- When a changeling hatches, it’s paired with a young pony. It’s that pony’s duty to care for and feed positive emotions, not necessarily love, to the changeling for the remainder of the changelings natural life. The changeling sleeps in the pony’s room so it can siphon ambient emotional energy while it sleeps.
- A young {female-unicorn} is paired with nymph {changeling-name}.
- {female-unicorn} acquires her cutie mark and is given a pip-buck for her secondary job, [whatever fits your story] (her primary job being looking after {changeling-name}).
- Around the same time a foal usually gains their cutie mark, a changeling nymph is assigned a name and occupation. {changeling-name} is assigned to [whatever fits your story].
- Resources have been running low for some time. The Overmare has secretly been sending changeling raiding parties to the outside. She has become accustom to her position of power and doesn’t want it to ever end.
- {changeling-name} learns about the almost weekly raids to the outside world and decides to sneak out with them.
- That night {female-unicorn} hears {changeling-name} leave the room and follows. When she sees {changeling-name} follow the raiding party she chases after {changeling-name} and desperately tries to pull him back inside (as she is responsible for his safety and well-being).
-The Stable door closes behind them. Used to being an elitist first class citizen, rather than wait outside for the raiding party to return and let them back in, {changeling-name} bullies {female-unicorn} into going out to explore. What’s the worst that can happen, right? Without supplies, because he really only needs to feed off of {female-unicorn} , he sets off with a reluctant and worried {female-unicorn} following behind.
