I just posted this over on fimchan, and I thought it would be only fair to give people here a shot at answering as well. Have some copy-paste:
Got something I want to ask everyone here. Well, more like an opinion poll. Kind of. Let me explain.
I am going to take a break - from Romance Reports. The alternate ending will come some time, and I do want to revisit the story and tweak some things. The set up for the Rainbow Dash twist, the fact that Rarity didn't get a morning-after scene while everyone else did, dozens of little things - there will be a final version of Romance Reports eventually. And a sequel, of course. But that's later.
For now, I do want to keep writing. I've had some ideas for shorter pieces - some related to Romance Reports, some not. I've already started, and right now I'm kind of jumping back and forth between two. Both are in Romance Report's continuity. The first is the much requested PinkieDash scene we never saw, and the second is a flashback about Big Mac and Cheerilee and their first time.
But once those two are done, I haven't decided where to go. So! I thought I would post some ideas and see what people found interesting. Be advised, I do want to write all of these eventually, this will just determine what gets pushed to the top of the list.
Without further ado (Sorry, no title ideas yet):
1.The mane six, having heroically completed yet another daring adventure, are being thrown a party by the grateful citizens of Stalliongrad. Everypony cuts loose and it seems like they've all found someone to, at the very least, chat up over a few drinks. Except Applejack. It just seems like nothing ever comes together for her in the lovin' department, and she spends a good part of the night alone with a bottle. Rainbow Dash drops her own hot prospect to cheer up her friend, and they share some moments. Finally, Applejack realizes a few things and gives Rainbow Dash the shot she's wanted for a long time now. The rest is history.
And by history, I mean rough, passionate lesbian sex.
This would be a version of Applejack that's a bit more bi-curious than I wrote her in Romance Reports, by the way (or is she...?!)
2.Set some years in the future, Rarity is a mare just on the edge of her prime. She's still alone, but that's not a bad thing - she's had a long and successful career, with many illustrious lovers. But these days she's feeling a bit lonely. Not that she can't find a partner for her bed - her feminine wiles are as sharp as ever. There's just a craving for something more.
And then Twilight Sparkle pays her old home a visit, with her former assistant tagging along. Spike has grown up a bit, an adolescent in dragon years. And he's got a few things he'd like to confess to Rarity.
Smoking hot dragon-on-mare sex ensues.
3.Princess Luna invites Twilight Sparkle to an ancient, and somewhat secretive, ritual that she's reviving, now that she's reclaimed her other duties. It's during the Equinox, and set in a hidden glade in the Everfree Forest. Twilight is a little wary, but her curiosity gets the better of her and she attends.
Of course, it's an orgy...ahem, I mean fertility ritual! Cycle of life and death and hedonism as rebellion against nihilism and all that. Right.
So then Twilight gets it on with various mythical creatures.
4.Applejack has been keeping Big Mac off limits for a while now. Intrigued, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash team up to finally solve the mystery of why.
They fail miserably. Undaunted, they decide to just wait until Applejack leaves the farm for a while and then seduce the ever-loving crap out of the big guy.
And then there's totally a threesome.
5.When Lotus Blossom moved to Ponyville, she had a dream. To run a clean, legitimate business, leaving her lurid past behind. The Luxury Lotus Spa is just such an establishment, offering nothing but above-the-table genuine spa treatments for Ponyville's citizenry. Or so she thought.
Unfortunately for her, her sister Aloe is a complete nymphomaniac who can't wait to get every customer into a back room for sexy massages. And hey, if she can make a few bits while she's at it, why not?
This would actually be a series of shorts, one for each of the mane six. Each of them taking advantage of the spa's "secial services." So basically just some light-hearted sexiness, with various M/F and F/F ridiculousness.
That's about it for now. I have some others, but they haven't even been fleshed out as much as these descriptions.
I say they're all good ideas, and perhaps I can learn a thing or two to wow my sudden fanbase (and yourself)!
In fact, how would you like to be in the author pool I'm trying to put together for a Back Room tribute project?
All of these are really good! In my opinion, #1 and #2 absolutely need to be written like right goddamn now. Otherwise, #3 is good just because of the mythological creatures, #4 is of course an excellent idea and would be my third choice, and #5 sounds like a lovely little series of shorts. If I had to pick any of these, though, it'd be the first two.
Interesting that Romance Reports is going to be getting an alt ending and a few revisions, as well. Those side-stories you're working on should turn out great, too. I confess I was quite curious about the PinkieDash encounter like most others. Be sure to let us know when you make all the revisions, what they are, and what chapters they're in! I'll keep tabs. :)
They've all got a bit to them. xD They all sound lovely. 1st and 4th are my favs tho. Even the little descriptions made me giggle.
Aaaah way too many awesome ideas.....but if I had to pick the ones that sound the most interesting, I'd have to go with #2 (for smoking hot dragon sex) and #5 for SCANDALOUS BACK ROOM SEX. Would these be entirely separate from the RR "universe" or would the characters have some grounding from there?
1) AppleDash has been done so damn much that it's hardly worth doing anything with it. Even if it *is* totally smoking.
2) Not the biggest fan of interspecies. I've read plenty of dragon-on-mare clops and none of them really did anything for me. It's just...kinda weird, I guess.
3) GAAAH! Please, for the love of all that's loving and tolerant, NO ORGIES!
4) I support this. Not only have you not published a threesome before (that I know about, at least), but the idea of seduction has some interesting implications and side-effects that could be explored. I'd be really interested in how Big Mac reflects upon this in the aftermath. (In other words, if you write this DO NOT just leave it off after the sex!)
5) This seems like too much of an excuse. There's just not much reason for an actual sex scene. Sure, you could write it, but the conflict really doesn't require anything explicit to be written.
Of course, you could always write #5, and simply leave out all the clop...but I have a feeling that might defeat the whole purpose of your writing it.

These would be separate from Romance Reports, even as they steal bits from it. Obviously Applejack locking Mac away is lifted directly, but numbers 4 and 5 are mostly intended to be lighthearted, "what if?" kind of scenarios. I've also considered putting a shout out to Twilight's relationship with Cheerilee in number 2. Come to think of it, number 2 could easily be in continuity with RR, being set in the future and all. We'll see.
The characterizations will probably be very similar, again for the most part. Not that I think these are the only ways to interpret the characters, or even the best ways, but they are the ways I like to write them. For now, anyway.

No orgies?!
Again, I had intended 4 and 5 to be very lighthearted. Very little serious emotional or plot stuff going on - just some fun character interaction and then sexin's. I've got plenty of ridiculous emotional stuff planned for Big Mac in the next long story. Hope that isn't too disappointing.

Gosh...that changes things, then. Just don't turn this into MLP: FIS, okay? Not that I have anything against Rainbow Dash tackling Twilight and suddenly licking at her ****, or Rarity greeting Twilight for the first time with a dildo. I just find that sort of stuff to be more "comical" than "sexy".
But I digress. RESCORE!
1) If you can pull this off without it being "so bad it's funny" (like so many other AppleDash fics I've read), go for it.
2) Again, not the biggest fan of interspecies. However, Spike's more grown up in this scenario, so my problem of youth is no longer present. So, again, if you can manage to pull it off without it being over-the-top comical, be my guest.
3) Every time I think of orgies, I think of MLP: FIS Applejack scene. So often, they're beyond comical, and go straight to the
category. However, if anyone can pull this off without it being cheesy, it's the RR guy. I'd actually be interested to see how you pull this off.
4) If we're keeping this light and emotionless (relatively), then I suggest steering clear of seduction. It's a bit too heavy for some light giggity fun.
5) LOVE this idea! If you can add in comical aspects (awkward Lotus and Aloe arguments. "You're doing WHAT?!") and mingle them with the (surprisingly) sexy scenes, I'd say we have a winner. (Can't wait for Lotus's "WTF" face when she realizes how much she enjoys it. =P)

I know you don't have it listed, and from what I've read you apparently don't even show any sort of support for the following ship, however...
your thoughts on Spike + Twilight?
I'd like to see the first and fifth the most, really. Out of those two, the fifth the most.
I don't have anything to add to the discussion at hand, except to say that you deal with the consequences of sex so well that leaving the Mac/Pie/Dash threesome at PWP is doing yourself a grave disservice.

I dunno about Sleepless's opinion on Spike/Twilight, but it does absolutely nothing for me. I don't judge a person for thinking it's sexy, but they're sister and brother (or even mother and son) in my mind. What's very weird is that Spike/Twilight fails to squick me like incest usually does; maybe it's the obvious lack of genetic relationship between the two. It just leaves me utterly unmoved.
