Again, once in a while we see something worthy jump onto the Feature Box, and this time around, it's by none other than Obabscribbler!
Of course Obabscribbler is well known already for her voice acting, but I hadn't really read her stories, I'm sorry to say. Given what I just read, this will be remedied soon enough! In any case, I give you:
Unlike a certain couple of stories up there which basically just summarize the last episode—or summarize a bunch of other episodes—this Alternate Universe story gives us more than a superficial brush of the whole Alternate Universe in question, in this case the Sombra's Wasteland option/flavor.
I won't ruin the story for you by adding spoilers here, but I will say that it's a very nice romantic short story and definitely worth checking out!

There are exceptions, of course, but a lot of what gets there is definitely not worth being flaunted to the whole site. And I'm talking specifically about the Featured Box section, not the Featured Updates part.
Of course, taste is subjective, but there are a few things, like the aforementioned summaries or stuff that is little more than bandwagon-ing on the success of others is not something that objectively should be there. I guess it's a good thing we don't have control over what gets there or not, but a few things I've seen there? Ugh.

I've read Playing With My Heart from her before. It was really good (too bad it hasn't been updated in over a year).
Boring. Nearly fell asleep trying to get through it. No different than the rest of the garbage that fills the Feature Box these days.

I read the story earlier. It was enjoyable. Not great or mind blowing. But it was a nice little fic to ship ponies who stood next to each other at somepoint during the show.

I actually find it sort of depressing that the highest rated story in the box is about how humans are so superior to the evil, evil ponies. It was unironically written for a group called "Humans are Superior", and just gets a kick out of milking the Conversion Bureau stuff and the Tyrant Celestia cliché.
It just makes me think. If one doesn't like ponies or the setting, why bother sticking around, when there are lots of other fandoms out there that one could be writing for? Or they could just do their own thing.
On another note, that recommendation was great! Got a thumbs up from me
3585332 I'll find it intensely depressing that that's the top of the featured box at the moment. D knows I give the site staff grief at times for certain moderator decisions, but I wouldn't shed a tear if one of them accidentally deleted it.
