"Rogue's Gallery" Postmortem / Sendoff · 3:31pm Sep 14th, 2015
Some of you may have noticed that Rogue's Gallery was recently canceled. I wouldn't feel alright if I just left it like that, so I'm making this blog to explain the thought process behind this story and where it was originally going to go. More after the break.
So, this story stemmed from how much I was enjoying Rocksteady's Arkham games. I got to thinking about how ponies would react when faced with Batman villains, and thus, the main concept for this story was born.
Beyond that, I didn't really know where this story was going to go. I had a few villains slated to show up, and the vaguely plan-esque thought was to pair each villain up with a character. That character would make friends with them, and they'd each eventually learn the magic of friendship and become heroes. The one I can remember most vividly is Black Mask meeting Rarity and eventually saving her when the Carousel Boutique burns down.
I did have plans for Batman to go to Equestria as well, but I had no idea how he was going to get there or why he would ever be there in the first place.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a draft for a chapter of this story and thought about these things a little more. I came up with a role for Ra's al Ghul as the main villain, but beyond that, I was just as clueless. I also realized at that point that I had said the Joker was coming back, and it was only then, two years later, that I realized that it wouldn't make sense. Joker died at the end of City, so that shot a huge hole in that plan. I quickly came up with a plan where Joker faked his death in City, and the Joker in my story would be the real Joker, and someone in Equestria was going to kill him, but there were still too many holes. By this point, I had stopped writing and was once again at a roadblock.
Recently, I just decided to straight-up cancel the story. I'm not being fair or truthful to you or myself if I say this story will one day be completed, so I've canceled it. If you'd like to write the story, PM me and I'll arrange a story transfer. Thanks for reading!
