Windows 8.1 how I hate thee · 3:24am Aug 15th, 2015
Well, for the past couple months my old desk top of nearly twenty years has been giving me more and more issues. Normally I'd just run it over to a friend and co worker and he'd fix it right up for free (thought I still paid for any parts). Sadly, he's seemed to have gone cookoo for coco-puffs and I'm not expecting him to be mentally able to do much for the next couple of however long it takes to straighten his life back out.
That said, I decided to buy a new one, which had the unfortunate side effect of costing me my trip to this years Bronycon. Would have been my third year in a row, sucks as I was looking forward to all the brony goodness and spending a couple days far away from my troubles. As for my new PC, man is it friggin' quite. It's like a stealth fighter compared to my older one which sounded more like a B 29 with engine trouble. It does have one draw back however... Windows 8. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be dragged outside and beaten with a stupid stick. I was lucky to go from Windows XP to Windows 7 on my older PC, both were very similar to one another in look and function But this... this is pure evil. I dislike the lay out of the screens and windows, its all just so damned confusing and I'm no computer genies either. But it's something I'll HAVE to get use to as I do not have a choice in the matter. Just don't expect me to like it or not complain like the crotchety old man I am.
This brings me to my current problem. Google Docs. It's where I do all my writing, and normally it works great, suddenly however, it doesn't. Now it's telling me I'm offline and can't use the spellcheck or other features and to go buck myself. It may not have said that last part, but I'm sure it's thinking it. Anyway, anybody out there got a clue whats going on? I've tried looking it up, and thus far have seen a grand total of no answers save one. Your ISP might suck. Well, no shit... I got CenturyLink, their idea of high speed is 1.5mg which slows down to under .5mg more often than I care to count. Atm however, it's behaving so I am left thinking Windows 8 is being evil.
All this means I'm having a devil of a time writing Fall of Hope. Hopefully I'll figure things out this weekend.
