In less than two days, the first Baldur's Gate game in more than a decade is coming out. Developed by BeamDog, who did the Enhanced Editions of the Baldur's Gate series as well as Icewind Dale, the game is going to be a "midquel" covering the events between Baldur's Gate I and II, which (according to a quick check of the in-game journals) do in fact take place a year apart.
The game is also going to be using the Infinity Engine still - that is, the same Engine that the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment games were made with. It's the super-updated version used for the Enhanced Editions, though.
Words cannot even begin to describe how psyched I am for this. I hardly even care if the game sucks; the opportunity to simply adventure in old-skool Faerûn again in an Infinite Engine game is just awesome, not to mention the chance to roll up and play Iliira in her original medium again.
Yes. I am immensely hyped.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I've been waiting for this, too.
Hmm. Has anyone tried ponifying the various BG characters? Minsc would make a fun pony, I bet!
I was completely unaware of this. Hype get!
Shh, too busy playing Pillars of Eternity.
Waitwut!? How did I not hear of this sooner? Damn, and I was doing so well saving my money, too.
Aww yeah, Bhaal-spawn of the world unite!
Looks like the countdown was just to the "official" announcement. They haven't even given a release date for the game.
And it's just a ~25 hour expansion of Baldur's Gate:EE, not a full game.

THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.
Eeeeeeee!
