The Good News and the Bad News · 12:59am Jan 28th, 2021
The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!
The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.
But the other good news is that I'm 2,000 words into the rewrite and I think I can have it done by Sunday, maybe Monday on the outside. We'll set a definite date as Monday.
Ooof, you've been dealing with toothache for a month? That's rough! Glad you've got it sorted out now.
Yay for lack of tooth pain!
Yay for getting your teeth fixed!
I wish you the best of luck with your root canal.
Good to hear you were able to get your tooth taken care of. While it sucks having to start a chapter over, I don't doubt it'll be a good one once it's done. I still need to catch up on that story but I've liked what I've read so far.
I'm glad you got your dental work taken care of! That's very important. I have a couple of impacted teeth that need to be removed, but I haven't been able to address them yet.
I understand just what you mean by difficulties in the writing process. I've been a little stuck working on Chapter Six of my fic, The Sixth Alicorn. I've finished 4000 words in that chapter, but I still have a lot more to go. I also wrote 3400 words for Chapter Seven. In my case, I actually find chapter seven more interesting to write.
Still, that's why they're called drafts. Writes like Hemingway and Wodehouse said that the first draft is usually awful, but it lets you see what needs fixing. Hemingway said he threw out the first half of The Sun Also Rises because it wasn't working for him.
Keep up the good work! I really enjoy your story
