So, uh... Bethesda made a few announcements at E3. New Doom game looks cool, as does Dishonored 2. And then comes along the Fallout part...
Fairly accurate to my ever widening smile during that part.
This looks so fucking amazing.
-- You actually start before the war and get a peek of how America was at the time, something I've been wanting for a long ass time.
-- The character creation system looks really intuitive and melds into the gameplay pretty well.
-- Mass Effect style dialogue with the bonus of being able to still move around while talking.
-- Kinda wish you could have another survivor that made it into the vault, but whatever. sole survivor of that one is pretty cool too.
-- Your robot butler survived for 200 years!
-- Molerats popped up out of the fucking ground.
-- The custimization... just oh god.
-- 50 base weapons with over 700 modifications.
-- You can build towns from the ground up! The guy had had a fucking pixel Vault Boy sign with fire shooting out of the sides!
-- Seriously. I will probably spend over a hundred hours just doing the town building.
-- The material collecting is pretty awesome. You don't need to find specific items, but stuff with the materials you need. Want screws? Find something, anything with screws in it.
-- The power armor opened up in the back and you stepped into! Also, fully customizable power armor, because why not at this point.
-- The special addition comes with a pipboy! It has an app that lets you do your inventory and status management on an actually, physical pipboy.
-- Oh, and in the game itself you can play games on your pipboy.
-- Also, the guy said they really worked on the combat and it does look more fun to shoot shit.
-- And all this stuff is still barely scratching the surface of the game!
But wait! There's more! A mobile vault sim game called Fallout Shelter that was released during the conference itself. Kinda sucks I can't do horrible experiments to the vault people like a proper overseer, but it still looks pretty fun. Also, good guy Bethesda just giving this shit away for free. No paywall, no constant internet connection needed.
Not normally one to get this hyped, but I love Fallout and Fallout 4 seems to be delivering in ways I really didn't expect.
